Cartoon animated gifs
« on: November 02, 2004, 01:27:24 pm »
Greets all,

There seem to be many of these scattered around the Internet, but I\'m having great difficulty in tracking them down. I don\'t really know what to call them... they\'re drawings, animated, usually a cartoon or movie scene. And they\'re very impressive pieces of art.

Examples include:

and

I\'d really love to find more. If anyone knows where they can be found, or what they\'re generally called, or even if you have some floating around your harddrive, post below. :)

Thanks

Nah, that\'s not what I mean. I\'m looking for these \'mini movie scenes\' sorta thing, you know?

I\'ve seen another one too, if I remember correctly, someone like whemyfield used to have it in his sig. It was an animation of a samurai running through groups of japanese schoolgirls and brutally cutting them down. Yeah it\'s not exactly tasteful, but it\'s the only other example of these that I\'ve seen. :P

Heres one... its huge for a gif (about 1.5MB) but lasts for quite a while.

You know that PSP (Paint Shop Pro) ships with an animation program?  I\'m not sure if the recent version still does, but I know I\'ve made animated cursors with one of the older ones (7 I think).  That\'s the only thing that PSP has over PS or gimp.

The GIMP can do animated GIFs, too. You simply add each frame as a new layer and then \"save as GIF->export as animation\", set the default timer, and you\'re set. You can also set the frame times individually, albeit tediously ( by editing the layer properties text with something like \"Frame 10 (50ms) (replace)\" ). It\'ll load animated GIFs as well. It doesn\'t have a player, so you need to save the files and watch them in a browser. At least that\'s version 1.2.5 of the GIMP.

Ghostslayer, that one is exactly the sort of thing I mean. :) All hand drawn and original. I love it. :D

Altharion, that is a cool cartoon, but I can\'t help but notice that the last bullet is fired with the jacket still on.  That must be one dang good assasin if he can fire bullets still in their jackets. :P

Edit: Oh, and conveniently the bullet isn\'t spinning either so that you can read \"Looks Can Kill.\"  It\'s simply amazing that he can kill someone with an incredibly innacurate bullet fired with the jacket still on, and behind his back none the less!   8)

Arcane, don\'t over analyse, people hate the know-it-all...

Moogie, I have seen a really good one of those, hand drawn, it was a fight between two stick people (not stickdeath)... It was quite long, but very entertaining.
I\'ll let you know if I find it again.

I like Red Jelly Beans!
