Password woes

I didnt really know where to post this, as im not really a newbie, i didnt want to post it in the newbie threads.. my original character, created well over a year ago is still in the db.. i figured it would have been deleted, and well, forgot the password..  ive tried every concievable password i would have used and cannot connect.. is there any way i can connect with my original character? is it possible to \'reset\' the password or sent me my old one? id really hate to lose one of the potentially oldest characters in ps..

If it was created a little over a year ago then it is no where near one of the oldest characters I am sure. More then likely everything will be gone, except maybe your crystals when CB is released so I wouldn\'t worry too much about it and just recreate the character then.

well, his id is 13575, he is one of the oldest i know of.. i just want the character and the id, he doesnt really have much of anything

Typical database structure and all would lead me to believe that there is 13574 records created before yours. So that would allow for quite a few older characters.
If you begged really really nicely somehow one of the devs might be able to go into the database and recover your password but since the focus is really on CB I doubt it.
Also since what it sounds like CB is a diffrent database so even if you kept the name you would have a different ID.
If there is really nothing to lose then why don\'t you just recreate the character when CB comes out?

because i have a fondness to that character.. and i simply dont remember what he looked like, what he did or anything.. i made a character (Slatz) in his image, well.. from what i remember him being anyway.. since CB is so close, and the characters are being deleted anyway, couldnt someone send the pw? i would like to keep the name (Xyko) for the CB release, but id also like to remake him.. so, whatever he is now wont matter, i just wanna run around with Xyko for a bit before cb comes out.. then he will be deleted, and i can make a new Xyko.. although i dont know how that\'s going to work, reserving the name.. while still creating him out of scratch..
If someone could help, i would really appreciate it..

I must say that your story doesn\'t sound very solid. If you\'re so fond of the char, why don\'t you remember anything about it?
Anyway, just in case you actually created this particular char, you can find the password you used in the PS directory. It\'s in the file \"PSCLIENT.txt\". This file is a log of every run of PS and will store every password and char ever created with this copy of PS (which gets extremely large (it\'s 5,4 M(!)B for me and I really play very seldomly!)). Look for a line like this:

psAuthenticationClient::Authenticate(Xyko,,1)

Obviously, this will only work if you didn\'t delete PS.
So anyway, if you can\'T find it you should wait for CB and then be one of the first to register. Obviously, since your name will not have been reserved it\'s likely that you can get it back this way.
I don\'t see what good it will do to \"run around\" in MB anyway, maybe someone can enlighten me?

Im sorry you feel my story is not authentic.. the reason i havent remembered anything about him is because he was created and played with for maybe two weeks at the most.. afterwich i moved from pittsburgh PA, to geneva OH.. my computer sustained some errors and i trashed it.. since then, ive been occupying my time with school and work, and have only recently been able to play ps.. however, i completely forgot that i even made a character, or was under the impression that my original character was deleted.. so i started anew, with Slatz.. and it wasnt till later that i realized my original character was still available.. but now, maybe 1 1/2 to 2 years later, remembering a password, is nearly impossible..
as for the fondness, its more to the name than the character.. same for Slatz.. although the name Slatz means much more to me personally, but thats another story for another time ^^
Thank you to everyone that is kind enough to respond to my post, even if i cannot get the password back, i would like to keep the names Xyko and Slatz.. as they are personal references id rather not part with..

Well I\'m sure nobody will take those names before you do in cb, they can\'t unless they either know your password, or they really want those names as well, and manage to make a char before you.

i know i shouldnt be so concerned with an old character with the release of cb being so close.. but thats the way i am sometimes.. forgive my stubbornness..
I understand the worries of those who work on ps, and trust me, my old character has nothing, i didnt play him long enough to figure out how to do anything, my computer was slow and couldnt handle ps at the time.. so i only really played him for a couple weeks max..
