aesthtetic Names
« on: November 07, 2004, 09:20:04 pm »
Maybe you aren\'t interrested in this Thread, but I thought some of you could have problems witch choosing names for their Characters. So I took out my old D&D Player\'s Guide and searched for PC Names.
They are only a resource and should inspire you to take names from a greater bandwrith.

Elven Names
male: Aramil, Aust, Dirion, Merdarion, Enialis, Heian, Himo, Ivellios, Laucian, Quarion, Thamior and Tharivol

female: Anastrianna, Antinua, Drusilia, Felosial, Ielenia, Lia, Qillathe, Silaqui, Valathe and Xanaphia.

Family Names:Amastacia , Amakiir , Galanodel,     Holimion,  Liadon, Siannodel, Ilphukiir and Xiloscient.

Dwarven Names
male: Barendd, Brottor, Eberk, Eimkil, Sokar, Rurik, Taklinn, Traubin, Ulfgar and Veit.

female: Artin, Audhild, Dagnal, Diesa, Gunnloda, Hlin, Ilde, Lifrasa, Sannl and Torgga.

Family Names:Balderk, Dankil, Gorunn, Kulderhek, Lodder, Luthgehr, Rumnaheim, Strakeln, Torunn and
Ungart

Names for Enkidukai (They are originally names for orcs, but I thought they would fit in very well):
male: Dench, Feng, Gell, Henk, Holg, Imsh, Keth, Ront, Shump and Thokk.

female: Baggi, Emen, Engong,Myev, Neega, Ovak, Ownka, Shauta, Vola and Volen.

Names for Lemures (originally gnomes):
male: Boddynock, Dimble, Fomkin Glim, Gerbo, Jebeddo, Namfoodle, Roondar, Seebo and Zook.

female: Bimpnottin, Caramip, Duvamil, Ellywick, Ellyjobel, Loopmottin, Mardnab, Roywyn, Shamil and Waywocket.

family names: Beren, Daergel, Folkor, Garrick, Nackle, Murning, Ningel, Raulnor, Scheppen and Turen

Please excuse misspellings. I am no native English-speaker (come from Austria, \"No Kangaroos!\")

I want to be a flame, to crumble to ash, but never ever burnt.

I want to rise higher, rise up to the heavens, but sink, just sink down deeper and deeper into nothing,

I want to be an angel, a chosen, a devil, but I am just a creature that ever wants what it wont get.

I remember seeing these in the handbook.

There is another very good source of realistic sounding names.
Neverwinter Nights.
In the character creation part, there is an option to generate names, it generates both first and last names, from a large list within the game.
This would be beneficial because Crystal Blue utilises both first and last unique names.

Off topic in a way, but related!
I myself have used this generator on many an occasion for things non-NWN. I do this when in need of a name and pressed for time. Such as a new D&D campaign, or even in Warhammer: Quest
So those of you with NWN, be sure to attempt to find some good names through random generation, you\'ll seldom be disappointed... All bar one of my NWN characters have generated names.

There are few things I hate as much as names like ShadowGuy69 and Ihaveareallylongandstupidname in a serious RPG.

Edit: If you are stuck and do not own NWN, PM me and I\'ll happily generate up a list of 50 or so names, and give them to you, it doesn\'t take long after all. If you do PM me, be sure to include race, and sex. This would best work for humans, elfs, and dwarves\' names, but I\'m sure I could find some suitable to a kran or enkidukai.
Edit: Mods, I don\'t intend this as an advertisement for NWN, I only mean to help people out. Please remove it if it is inappropriate.

Ummm, NWN isn\'t the only game with a name generator (there are likely hundreds).  Also, you can get stand alone name generators.  Just google it (this time there are probably upwards of a thousand).

I know it\'s not, it\'s a really good one though, as for googling them, they are either difficult to use, or come up with very synthetic names, I know this as I have used them, I even got one from Wizards of the Coast.
Edit: Something I\'d forgotten.

The game will also have name generators, if you find you can\'t create a proper name for your character, or just to give you some inspiration as to what you could call yourself.
I won\'t be needed after all, oh well. CB has its own generators.

Sorry! I wasn\'t aware of a ingame name generator. I just posted this because i thought someone could use it and neither have NWN (which is a great RPG) nor want to google around (I hate searching machines).
I\'m just a newbie and thought i could help.

P.S.: how can I have an avatar

You can\'t. Avatars are available only for devs, mods and other \'special\' people ;)
