Adreniline
« on: November 13, 2004, 05:51:15 pm »
ok i have used the search bar for this so if there are any topics like this out there i apologize.

Anyway i think there should be adreniline. Not like the pill type that you see in UT2004 but your bodies type. Like when you got 5% health left, you get a increase to strength for a short period of time. Not like something that lets you be totally uber but somthing that just could change the tides of battles. I think it would be a neat thing to add to the game.

Yeah, that would be kinda neat. When you are almost dead, you suddenly have an increase in strength/magic. Determination...

But it would have dissadvantages too, you would charge into battle with no concern for your safety or anyone elses.

MB has something like this already in it...it\'s called \"beserker\" in the char chreation. Not sure if it\'s implemented into CB.

That\'s not what they mean, and all MB has is pretty graphics and crystals.

I think this could be good, but you are missing something... Fear!
A massive horde of monsters coming at you would cause an adrenaline rush.
Because the Fight/Flight response would release epiphenine from the endocrine systems giving your body a boost...
As far as I know, being nearly dead does not give you a rush.

The way I propose would prepare you to either fight or flee, as the name entails.
There can be no real non-coding arguments as Fight/Flight is real, and happens to every creature. So it\'s realistic, and appropriate. The coding would be the only problem, if it was indeed hard... I have no idea.

the rush for nearly dead would depend on just how close to death you are and your will to survive
Madness is merely an extension of sanity.

I think this is a cool idea, but it would have to be calibrated very well to look and work good (the odds worked out and such).
Warning: Prone to common sense.

When you were put into adreniline though you would have a decrease in your chance to hit though. Here is what i was thinking of.

When in adreniline:

Strength= +30% for 30 seconds
Agility/Speed+20% for 30 seconds
Hit rate= -40% for 30 seconds

That would be more like going berserk. I think the adrenaline rush should make you more accurate as well, not quite as much as you said. Maybe a 10% increase in all of those. Think about it in real life. You get adrennaline rushes, you are far more precise and accurate because you are totally focused. You are not thinking about anything else. At least thats what I found from my own experience.

Do you really get a rush from dieing? How odd. As adrenaline in great quantities is lethal, and losing adrenaline is one of the fastest ways to die. If you bleed adrenaline, you\'ve got no hope.

I agree you are very focused, but you are also very jumpy, so there would be negatives to it. (Everything should be weighed by pros and cons.)

I think it would okay also to make your own synthetic adrenaline. I\'m sure if that were even possible the game would require you to have high level pharmacy and herblaw.

I think that adrenaline should increase all stats by about 5-10% an if you worry about balancing the con is that you are almost dead.
