Reguarding Server
« on: November 13, 2004, 08:39:56 pm »
Hello,
I have a question - I am setting up a LAN party at school and have chosen this game, I have played it for a while, it is very interesting, allthough you at this point do not do much, I still enjoy it.

I however, need a copy of the server software. I looked in the CVS tree, I saw it, but my compiler would not build it.

Could I have some help?

Thx

It\'s useless to build the server anyway, since there are no crystal spawns and you will have to modify the database to get it to load the  maps you are playing in. And yeah, there are some compiling issues with an up-to-date compiler. Which one do you use?

MSVC 6

Could you possibly attach a copy of the server in a zip/tar/rar etc file, or email it to bitblaster@pso-net.net?
I would greatly appriciate a pre-compiled version.

You want a LAN party of chatting/roleplaying/crystal hunting?
That doesn\'t sound too facinating to me.
Play something that is more complete.

I like Red Jelly Beans!

Hmm...  I could supply a binary... but what do you want with a linux program when you are running windows? ;) And you will have to install and configure mysql to run the database behind the server. It\'s not as easy as you think....

I guess that is ok with a Linux binary.. because I dualboot with Windows XP Pro and Redhat Linux..

I have MySQL Installed on my linux dualboot... so yeah, I would really appriciate the linux binaries.

Thanks

also my email address is bitblaster@pso-net.net if you wish to email me the binary and stuff.

Here is what the setup will be:

Laptop running as server, booting up on Linux
About 15-25 Windows clients

Hmm ok, if that\'s what you want... I will pack the stuff into a tarball when I get home.

But remember: there crystal spawns, so you will just have good looking chatroom, nothing else

Btw,  do you want a MB server or CB CVS server?

*imagines an entire room full of people saying \"I\'m linkdead!\" \"I have a database error...\" \"I can\'t get in!\" \"it\'s too laggy!!\" \"How long do I have to wait for initialising world?\" \"I can\'t move!\" \"I fell off the map :(\"*

Oh yeah. You\'s gonna have some fun there. :D
