Help!Planeshift won't work once I've installed it!
« on: November 17, 2004, 06:12:34 pm »
I started up the game, but all I get are the words: \"No hardware acceleration\"! Then I get a popup saying that \"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down\"!

What did I do wrong?

Try opening pssetup.exe and check to make sure the rendering is set to software.  I\'m assuming this message means it is set on hardware, and you don\'t have a GPU.  If you do, make sure the drivers are up to date.  I\'m sure someone else will be along to give you some more ideas if that doesn\'t work.

I changed the rendering to software, and it didn\'t work still. :(

If you\'re using XP, set psclient.exe to W98 compat mode.

Then you should try a reboot, as windoze may have messed itself up. However, it may also be that your RAM does not suffice, or that your graphics and / or mainboard drivers are in desperate need for being updated.

Do you even know some of the basics like processor speed, memory and video card?
Go to START -> Control Panel -> System and should at least give you some of that.

also try Start>Run>\"dxdiag\" DirectX gives most of the basic info that we need

Edit: Its possibly that you downloaded a corrupt installer. You could try to download PS again. Or wait untill CB is released. which would be \"soon\".
