Guild Wars or Planeshift?
« on: November 18, 2004, 02:08:09 pm »
When Guild wars is released before or after CB is released will you still play PS?

Are the dev\'s wasting their time or will PS become greater than Guildwars?

I no i will still try CB even if Guild wars is released or not

btw the reason why i left WoW out off this topic it is because both PS and GW are free to play, dont need to pay monthly payments to rich fat greedy pigs (Blizzard)

How do we know we see the same exact colours as each other?

They dont, but if one was amazin good wouldnt you play it more often?

I am just wondering if alot  of people are gonna play PS, then PS can show off its community with unique classes and jobs.

How do we know we see the same exact colours as each other?

PlaneShift is \"revolutionary\" in many aspects.
For one, it\'s the first 3D MMORPG game to be Open Source codewise. And many ideas are new ones which you won\'t find in any other game or in a very few of them.

And btw, most of us can\'t waste our time, since all (AFAIK) of  us do this to learn how to do it

I don\'t feel it is fair to compare PS to Guild Wars or any other retail game, but I played Guild Wars during the World Preview and really didn\'t see anything special about the game at all, as a matter of fact I was pretty disappointed. Well at least I won\'t have to spend any money on it this way.
But PS right now is in a tech demo stage and even when CB comes out it will not be in the same stages of development as a game that is being sold for retail.
I fully plan on playing PS but I will also be playing World of Warcraft.

This is opposite to my point of view.  This is my hobby that I do because its fun ( most of the time :) ) and I have learnt a lot and meet a lot of interesting people.  I guess you can compare it to people who build hotrods.  Are they wasting their time because other people can go out and buy a Ford?

Bah Kiern is right, why must we be told to only play one game. I play FF11, UT2004, BattleFront, A&A\'s, WC3 and I have been doing a uber campaign on FF7 as of late. Then I play and uphold a guild within on PlaneShift, so as you can see I am on here most often still but doesn\'t exclude me from playing other games.

Also for guildwars I played it on the world preview, they did the worst job ever bringing newbies in. I give it no star for no introduction effort.

Well, I plan on buying Guild Wars simply because its free. We will most likely get bored with CB anyway since it is still a tech-demo. (Ok, maybe not, but Im a pessimist when it comes to these things)

Lol, same thing in every forum.

GW isnt free!
I really think its a rib off.
The only thing that turns people to GW is because theres no monthly fee. But did you ever think of playing the game? You will be constantly forced to buy new expansions to get new skills and storyline.

I would prefer PlaneShift to almost all online RPGs, since its got one of the best communities I seen around and the fact you (user, player) can contribute to PlaneShift yourself, where have you seen that? Even though it\'s not finished (which it will never be :P) I love it...:D
And there the fact thats it is free :P...I\'m poor, and unemployed..mehh...well thats life...mehh...pfsh...

You can try, but you shall fail! Seek us not, we shall find you.

Well I can comment on this subject;

It\'s been so hard to want to post and not be told, this it umpteenth time this was mentioned.

I came to planeshift after leaving a very involved rpg game called sociolotron,  altho it is still in beta it is a very invovled adult minded game.  I wont go any further than this.  I was the bug detector on that forum and the game, and got to know the programmer pretty well.  He made special worlds like you may be doing, to test out such and such while the rest of the world went along thier merry way.

I currently am playing counter strike.  I tried asherons call two but it seems since turbine took it over, they are have lost alot of thier user bases.  I also play call of duty, when I can.  In real life I run a construction company.  So I get alot of outside attention.  To me online gaming is nice way to relax when the snow falls, keep the stupid tv off, and relax with a cup of coffee at the same time immerse myself in a virtual realtiy on this screen.

I don\'t a lick about programming these days, not anymore with the new lanuages.  Nor do I have the time to learn.  I know alot about cad due to the fact that I had to get my toy line cut from cnc machines.

I heard it once said, that for a computer game to get your emotions so involved in real life, to make you either laugh, cry or get upset, that is real power to the senses.

Now to go back and do my best to proof read this...hehe

It\'s best to play the game that suits you more, or just wait until you find out more about each of \'em, or play both until you find one to be boring over time.

I ditched DAoC because it was basically a cuss fest and the major issues in the game were never resolved, they\'re focusing on the regular players, and basically telling the newbie\'s in the game to find a different one.

I\'m staying with Planeshift. People are way nicer, and i\'ve rarely seen any bigotry so far.

I am convinced it wont be a rip off. Paying $40 a month plus $50 a box is a rip off. Guild Wars has a one-time fee, which in my opinion, is as good as free. You will not be forced to buy expansions, you can play any version with everyone else, no matter if they have the expansion or not.
