Questions about indirect magic

Is there going to be indirect magic in the world of Planeshift?

Is it going to be under a certain way or do all ways have a sort of indirect spell?

You mean something like an earthquake??

It would cause the ground to rupture which would then immobilize and/or cause harm to an opponent? - Indirectly

Like Entamis I\'m a bit in the dark to what you mean by \'indirect magic\'

sorry I forgot to explain what I meant, I went out last night while I was posting. What I mean by indirect magic is quite frankly (Final Fantasy terms, I know its so old but I can\'t explain it another way):

Indirect Magic = anything that causes status effects or alters your characters status rather than hitpoints.

For example:
- Beserk
- Confuse
- Blind
- Silence
- Curse
- Aura
- Paralyze
- Darkness
- Trouble
- Regen (heals HP but not straight but rather indirectly as per turn)
- Shell
- Protect
- Poison (does HP damage but not straight but rather indirectly as per turn)
- Frog
- Mini
- Break
- Haste
- Slow
and such...and so on...

Those \"indirect Final Fantasy magics\" are called buffs. There are positive and negative buffs, and PS will have both. That\'s all you\'ll get from me. :)

I hope you were joking, but in case you weren\'t...it\'s \'buffs\', not \'bluffs\'.  More specifically, there are positive buffs (which, well, buff you up) and negative buffs (which...make your opponents weaker), which are also referred to as \'debuffs\'.

Probably as many as you want, as long as you only have one of a certain type active. For example, if you have Minor Strength Boost, Major Strength Boost would replace it. Thats how most games work, but I can\'t say for sure.

Strange, I actually thought that indirect magic is the opposite to direct magic using which is a direct attack at opponent\'s hp (fireball), while indirect is the passive attack (starfall)...

That\'s what I thought too.
Which FF calls it indirect?
FF1-4 had it as grey magic.
5-6 it was status.
7 8 9 and 10 had no real names for it.

and here i was under the impression that indirect magic would be non combat spells used in funky ways.  DnD example: using the grease spell on a hill to make people fall off a cliff, illusions to make it look like the dragon is actually a small rock, using burning hands(a level 1 spell) against a massively powerful invisible creature to make it show up in the fire so you can target it with nasty things....  New and innovative uses for old spells and combinations of spells.

Also, aren\'t debuffs spells that strip away buffs(both good and bad)?

Indirect Magic: Fireball/Web/Grease
Buff: Strength/Armor/Shield
Debuff: Ray of Enfeeblement/Malison

only a few I can think of right now... I guess those are good examples..
