Above land worlds...
« on: November 27, 2004, 12:24:05 am »
Is PS eventually going to have lands above ground? Like so that everything is not underground? So I can see a sun once in a while?

Also, the system of 7 levels underground is limited, each level getting smaller. If above ground were implemented, then no limits..

Eventually, just not anytime soon.

Personaly I think that the above grounds place should be where you can build anywhere, PK with a flag system and totaly destructable stuff.
Under construction

Why is it limited? This is a game, the devs can create as much space as they need.

It is in a stalactite, Ice, only so much room there is what he means, although that stalactitie is itself underground and so a level higher would be limitless....unlimited....same difference.

There are no fixed measurements as how big the stalactite actually is, so the devs can make it as big as they want. Space is unlimited, we are just meant to believe it isn\'t.

Hmmm, or perhaps we could eventually find our way into the really big cave?  I\'ve always been curious, too, is the cave lit, and if so, how?  more crystals, or a hole in the top?

You will be able to get there sooner or later. But I think its going to be a vey very very very hard thing to do.  Not sure though.

I think that\'s is a very limited view Thenior.

In this cave/stalactite, which is most likely going to be massive, the devs might place a boulder somewhere, and if there wasn\'t enough space then they could slowly erode this bould until a new section of cave was revealed, hence opening up new area for building, and quests etc.

Also someone has probably said this already and I will probably get told to look through the newbie forums before saying something like this,
Mining.
Not to get ore/gold/iron etc., but to carve away sections of rock simply to make more space. If the devs decided they could send out npcs to start mining and have new sections in no time at all.

Well, It would make it very complex There were some thread about it, but OK. In a Singleplayer game like Red Faction it\'S OK but in a MMORPG? It would need DSL-Connection, with a 5Ghz Prozessor.
