Well if you\'re right then that will be very nice \'cause in this way we will be able to speak French between us and speak English with all the other players of PS :]

By asking the members of Brother of the Shadows to speak at least French, it helps those who does not speak very well English to improve it because they will have to speak it to play suitably ;)

Our objective is to gather a French community around Planeshift. :]

btw, you\'ll have to speak english ingame
When shouting or saying something yes, but not in guild chat or private, so that shouldn\'t be much of a problem.

English is an international language, and everyone around here speaks it.
Well, that\'s the problem. Not everybody speaks English. I agree that most people should try their best to learn English that is the international language but for those who can\'t (or won\'t) it\'s good to have guilds like the Brothers. :)
Bhasmithal, I guess I don\'t need to repeat the fact that I think your guild is really cool ;) Bonne chance Frere!

EDIT (After Annah\'s next post): Well I can agree that it\'s sad that lots of French people don\'t care to learn English like everyone else but the discussion has been brought up too many times and I don\'t think we have the power to change this here. That\'s why, Annah, I think we might as well let this guild be for French speaking people ;)

This debate about language will never get old, will it?

It\'s purely irrational and finds its root mainly in the fear some people have regarding their lack of control over the elements. With a bit of argueing just for the sake of it, from what I see, won\'t you agree with me Annah?

What arguments do we have here?

One of the criteria is understanding French a little bit, even if most of the site has been translated and if talking English in their forums is not frowned upon. So does that make it \"just\" a French guild? Well, it will be a common denominator. As some guilds are \"just\" evil, \"just fighting evil\", and so on. Is that bad? If we follow this kind of logic, every guild will look the same and be as general as possible, to avoid splitting the community.

Does that make sense? Not really. What I see is a guild which allows enough freedom to their members as to their character, but has the desire to help them sharing the same culture (and, but that\'s beside the point, the same beliefs). Isn\'t that the case of the best guilds around? And why is the language a worse criterion? Quite the opposite! To me, it will strengthen their bonds, much more than any artificial ideal.

Will that isolate them? Why would it do so, as long as they use French internally? They do talk English with other people, and from what I\'ve seen so far, it\'s not always worse than your typical Englishman or US citizen.

Will someone be isolated when roleplaying evil/X/Y... very well? I\'m not sure, would you want to talk to a guy like this (IC) if your beliefs were so different as to make any argument worthless? I wouldn\'t. But I\'d gladly do so OOC, if the guy\'s interesting. So, is that really different?

I find it a bit sad that people wouldn\'t discuss deeper and more interesting points of this guild, instead of this superficial, overdone topic. They deserve better, don\'t you think?

I play ps since august 2004 because I wasnt able to play before. And that\'s what I saw :

- a french community with one belonging to big guild called Zelphirien
- a lot of guilds for english speakers
- a lot of people that cant speak english but wanted to try the game :
a spanish : he came and cant find spanish speaker he saw the game and lets the game...
some hungarian not able to speak english but there was a hungarian able to speak english. This one create a guild (the hungarian hord) and there is still hungarian that cant speak english in the game...
in the zelphirien guild there are a lot of non eglish speakers that continue to play (Drognion for example : he show me Yliakum and tell me a lot of things about it but cant speak english)

in fact if you really want your game stay open : you\'ll have to accept the fact some people need guild where people speak foreigner languages...

sorry Annah but I\'m not in your opinion in this post.

@Xordan : but you you are used to see I\'m not in your opinion ;-) but Eh ! I just realize ! I\'m in your mind now ! I though too there would have to speak english !

Hi there,

I wanted to recall you that there is a section on the forum where you can post in different languages. We will try to accomodate you suitably and answer all your requests.

Do not hesitate to post a message, we are happy when a new person comes to drink in our tavern. Urbong (the Taverner) will surely appreciate your visit. :)

Hello everbody,

I would like to recall you that the Guild Vote on Kada-El\'s Tavern is not yet closed. You can still vote for our guild.

Here is the website: http://www.freresdesombres.com/

Maybe you\'ll want to discover more things on Brothers of the Shadows and -who knows?- you\'ll want to join the guild. There is an international section on our forums where you can express yourself, so don\'t hesitate to post!

See you on CB!

PS: To vote, chose \"Brothers of the Shadows\" on the bottom right of the screen then click on \"Vote\".

PS2: You will be able to find the English translation of the web site at the bottom of the main page.
