Sorry about the libdl problems, guys.  I set up libdl, libcrypto and libssl properly within the application bundle, but did not tell the updater binary to look for them there.

What I don\'t understand is why I could start the updater with all the fink libraries relocated to somewhere inaccessible.. I am glad you all seem willing to put up with such a tedious process!

Thanks,
Daniel

EDIT: I will take a \"lunch break\" from work in about an hour or so and upload the fixed updater.  Hopefully someone (e.g. Talad) will be able to replace the broken version with a version that DOES NOT require manual installation of dlcompat-shlibs.  The or_lighting file will still be required.

EvilWeezul666: Please wait until a new version of the updater is posted, if your system does not have any of the libraries manually installed it should be a good test of whether I done it right this time!

Thanks,
Daniel

fink does a lot of pathsetups during install, thats why the updater could find the libs

What I did was rename /sw to something completely different, which was always sufficient to throw off the vorbis libraries.. but who knows, maybe I just wasn\'t paying attention.

The link that Xordan provided for the or_lighting_portal.xml file is password protected. Any other link that I would be able to use?

The password is the usual one for things like this, and can be found in the updaterconfig.xml file where it lists off the different mirrors.

It looks like both you and cha0s have the same problem.  I am not entirely sure what the cause is, or why it only happens to you guys.

Have either of you ever been able to get past?  What happened between then and now?

Thanks,
Daniel

It works fine for me.

EDIT:

Well, the updater, at least.  I\'m having some trouble \"requesting world\" on the loading screen.

Just so everyone\'s on the same page...

Has anyone gotten the updater or the client to work without resorting to fink?

I just thought that I\'d add that the updater keeps downloading the same files for me, too, in addition to me being stuck in the load screen for Hydlaa Plaza.

***EDIT***

I got a message one time about the server being shut down, but I don\'t know if that was because it timed out or not. I haven\'t been able to get that message to come up again.

The client didn\'t crash, though, when it came up until I clicked on \"OK\".

Ok excuse me if I\'m being totally backward here but I had to go away for a few days - now I\'m back and trying to download the updater from the address in Talan\'s initial post but getting a 404.. has it been taken down?

I am experiencing the same problem (I too have been absent for a few days)
Perhaps you should visit the #planeshift-alpha2 channel (see the mac users irc thread) and bug dfryer or Talad. I am fairly resigned to not having enough RAM for any degree of playability :S
