Help with iso's

I have an iso file of an OS which is around 750mb, too large to fit onto a normal cd-r.
I was wondering if there was a way i could boot that iso file from my hdd to install it?(as in restart the computer and BAM there is is)

Try super-compresing it.

I dont know how its done... But http://www.ag.ru likes to do it with their files.

Problem: It takes about 20mins to decompres.

Its like a super version of a .rar thing.

You can use Daemon Tools it allows you to make a virtual CD/DVD drive and open any CD image file that way.

Use Daemon Tools so that you may open up whats inside, copy everything in the CD to a new hard drive, boot using the new HD. That may or may not work, would help to know what OS it is.

Where did you get the iso from?

Surely an image of a cd will burn back onto the cd ?

Have you tried burning the image to a cd even though it seems too large ? It might just be track information etc. taken from the original that doesn\'t actually add to the real cd image size.  It might also be intended for burning to a dvd.  It would help if you told us what OS it was.

yeah doesnt fit swift, thanks ghost, your one worked i had tryed virtual cd but had no success. The OS had the option to copy all files to hdd.

I agree with annah, go buy an 800mb cd, and, are you pirating games? don\'t, bad habit. No linux cd or such would be over 700mb.

Normal 700MB CDs can handle up to something like 760MB AFAIK, but normal burners don\'t support what is called overburning, i.e burning outside the normal limits.

I have a Plextor burner which long was the best one you could get (and still is VERY good), I have no problems getting 750MB down into a 700MB disc.
And remember, 750 is including TOC and other stuff, which normal file burning doesn\'t include

well what game is over 800MB for one disc? :P

Unless you have to run the program off a CD, you could use something like ISObuster and extract it to any location, and install it from there...

Why not buy a DVD burner?

it wasnt a game (read the top), it was linux and i didnt want to buy a 800mb disk.  But its all working now...
