My final project
« on: December 16, 2004, 11:15:18 am »
Hi everyone, I just finished my final project for my color theory class, and I thought I\'d post it and get some feedback before I turn it in. Its due around 9pm tonight, so be quick about responding. Its a self portrait, and it, well, kindof looks like me. More or less. I deffinately need to tweak it, but I\'ve run out of time. Modeled in 3D Studio MAX 6, hair with Ornatrix plugin, touched up in GIMP 2.

Its 1600x1200, but ive compressed it to about 40k, so it should load fairly quickly. Thats it, please post feedback, it really helps a lot. Thank you!

I thought they looked weird too, and no, my lips arent that color. Its hard to get the right color for skin tones, especially when one is color-blind. If I have time before I have to leave for class, that is one thing I will fix.

that is not bad, the flesh tones are pretty good, if dark for a colorblind person, ya, the lips need a little toning down though.

BTW, are you fully colorblind, like black and white, shades of grey, or partly, so red is kinda pinky, blues are lighter and such?

Not fully, I have a red-green defincey. Its not debilitating or anything, untill you give me a box of crayons and ask me for a green one. Dont ever give me crayons. I will kill you. Then burn the crayons. Twice. SO yeah, reds and greens are harder for me. :(

oh, ok, I have several colorblind friends, so I am used to helping them out in 3d modeling and game creation with their colors.

ahh red-green... so do you have to worry about stoplights and such?

anyway, overall it is a great job, far beyond my power... so you gonna tell us how well you did on it?

Of course I will, I should know within the next hour or so. And no, trafic lights arent a problem. Bottom light means go!

Update: Alright, I got 95% on the dumb thing! That means 90.3% overall in ther class. Sweet.

A quick way to make a fitting texture is actually quite simple. I also did a face model of me some time ago, and for the texture, I simply used a photo of myself (then again, you might not have a camera, otherwise you might have thought about that, if that\'s the case, ignore me :p). A front, back and left photo. Then edited in photoshop. Worked wonders :)

I had the pictures of me ready to texturize, but i simply ran out of time. I had to settle for a cheaper and quicker porcedural texture. oh well, still got 95%, so i dont care. :D
