i still think you shouln\'t be able to talk to everybody online at once.

if i shout, people in the next house might hear me, but certainly not on the next street.

if you want to talk to people you can /who to see if they are online. en then /tell them what you want to tell them.

perhaps you should create groups where you can put people in to tell the whole group at once.

Chaotic mind, chaotic mind, where did i hide the point of what i was telling.....

Well on the main sites first connection guide it mentions a group talk command.  Maybe the devs are thinking of putting some group commands in latter or what but having just looked at some of the CB screenshots it looks like some group stuff has been implemented.  I would not know because I am not a tester :( and if I did I am sure I could not tell it ;)

/shout should only talk to people in shouting distance, and prob will.

I think other \'/****ts\' that would be fun would be /whisper, /yell, /mumble, and /shriek; all with their own hearing radiuses.

Example:

Kwip walks into the bar and sees the boxum maid Trala.  He stroles over to her.
Kwip /whispers Hi, beautiful.
Trala /smiles
Rajeena (Kwip\'s girlfriend), enters the doorway and /shrieks I TOLD YOU TO NEVER TALK TO HER AGAIN!

People use n00bs for almost everything.
Sometimes when I die in CoD other people say I\'m a \"n00b\" or \"noob\" or whatever they say. And even if I\'m a braindeath person dont call me noob but call my a braindeath person ok?

I like the filter system, but instead of using the traditional \"one-word\" filtering system (changes all filtered words into one set word), I think the devs should make it choose random words and phrases so people don\'t know that the thing the person said was filtered. This would add to the realism of the game.

It all depends on how the filtering system is integrated.  It would make it harder to figure out what part of speech the word being filtered is being used in and then using a word or phrase in that same part of speech.  But then if this is not done the filtered message might make little or no since.

[Edit] I have a girlfriend?! I am so happy :D !!! \"No do not break up with me becuase of the incident in Under the Moon\'s example\" ;(  *Sigh* back to no girlfriend again :( [/Edit]

I was talking about swear words, not L33T... I don\'t know what we\'re gonna do with that.

Well, I tried to use them as cupholders, but they didn\'t know what a cup is. ;)

AFAIK, \"newb\" is the abbreviation for \"newbie\", i.e. someone who is new, and it\'s not negative in any way.
\"n00b\" or \"noob\", OTOH is an insult, much like \"stupid idiot\".

Anyway, I agree with
- no 1337 in RP channels
- no modern slang in RP channels
- no OOC in RP channels

I don\'t agree with excessive censoring, because it doesn\'t work. We should have a minimum of censorship for the most common words, but that should be it, since ppl. will find ways around it if they really want to, and if not, they\'ll know from the moderate censoring that it\'s not wanted.

It is and always has been my opinion that we should have an OOC channel that can be switched on and off easily so that all chit-chat can go there and (most importantly), that any OOC chatter can be told off the RP channels most easily. It\'d be harder to tell them to usr IRC instead. However, this wish has been declined by the devs AFAIK, so there will be no OOC channel. Therefore, we ned to take all OOC to the /tell channels, which is fine for telling things about your char (like background info or other explanations).

We should not have any specific servers, since that would totally disrupt the persistant and complete environment / world concept.

We should allow moderate modern slang on the /tell channels, because they\'ll be used for OOC.

We should ban all modern slang from the normal say and shout channels, since they\'ll be used for IC only.

These bans should be enforced by moderate censorship (i.e., only the most common phrases) and the community / GMs (for less common / ambigous cases).

/report will do much good...

Abbreviations: I use these often, because IMO typing is painfully slow and highly inconvenient. However, I refrain from abbreviating words that are short already, like \"you\", but use abbreviations for phrases (like OTOH). This is an acceptable middle ground I think. While it is less pleasant for RP purposes, it serves good purpose, so the benefits outweigh the drawbacks IMO. On top of this, my usage of these depends on the speed the communication is going ATM (in RP environments), so if there isn\'t heavy communication I\'ll most likely not abbreviate anything (except very common RL abbreviations like \"i.e.\".).

@ MercenaryVII: While the filters and GMs may not be that strict on the numbers, your name itself isn\'t appropriate for RP. There has been an extensive discussion on that topic, and others and me took great effort and much time to explain why. It can be found by searching for \"inappropriate names\".

Edit: filters should block / change the words / phrases for everyone, including the poster. They should be serverside, except for an optional content filter that can be used to filter even the normal profanity and swear words (one of the dreaded \"adult content blockers\" that are abused to remove the burden of properly educating children from the parents...).
