First of all I want to say that I am sorry for the cheesy intro but I have to attract people somehow.  And that is supposed to be Ragnarok not Ragna.

The Sentinels of the Ragnarok:

History

The end of humanity had come and gone with the final battle, Ragnarok, between the Norse Gods and the evil giants from Muspelheim.  The world regressed and fell into a terrible ice age.  The last two humans wandered down from the Yggdrasil tree in a sullen attempt at replenishing the world. Hope had been lost?  At the threshold of death, this man and women prayed to their fallen Gods for solace.  This prayer awakened the final three Einharjar from their slumber in Valhalla.  They had been put to sleep by the great Odin who knew the destiny of the Gods.  These three brave Einharjar, Valbrandr, Induane, and the all-knowing Hyrcanus, who had been imbued with the memory of Munin, bestowed upon these two humans a time without hunger, without bitter cold, and without suffering.  They came to be known as the Triumvirate.  The Triumvirate became the protectors of the righteous in an attempt to restore humanity to the dismal land.

Time slowly passed human recollection.  And what had been made good gradually turned bitter.  The humans began to struggle against one another in order to fulfil their aspirations for knowledge and power.  The Triumvirate wanted to provide guidance for the people.  This was no easy task for the human?s wills had been broken and their faith had diminished.  These humans knew that their ancestors could not escape the ecstasy of warfare under their Gods. If the Gods could not bring peace to the lands of the Northmen, how was a Triumvirate of Einharjar going to bestow peace upon the land.  This was a fair question because these Einharjar had very little physical power compared to that of the Gods.  However, there was one major difference between the Triumvirate and the Norse Gods:  The Triumvirate was a council of loyal warriors who relied on one another on and off the battlefield.  They were three entities with one concise conclusion.  In contrast, the Gods meddled in human affairs, they were often divided which caused them to fight amongst themselves and would habitually spill over into the lands of Midgard, and their goal was to keep man subservient to the will of the Gods.

The Triumvirate took a different approach.  They wanted to grant man absolute freedom in which humans would obtain knowledge for the continuation of the evolutionary process.  With their progression would come peace to their lands.  This was difficult for the people to grasp, possibly too idealistic for a world ruled by the rationale of humans.  There was widespread anarchy for a time followed by a period of divisions and blind hatred between classes and races.  The Triumvirate finally decided to assert their authority in an indirect way.

They thought that if they could trick all peoples of the hierarchy into working together for a common good that peace would win over greed and intolerance.  They created Planeshift.  All people were encouraged to participate in a journey throughout the lands of the world.  These people, referred to as Sentinels, were to find ancient artifacts and information on the battle of the Ragnarok.  They were to retell the story of the Ragnarok and come to a conclusion on why it happened and who was at fault.  For their travels, they would receive immortality but not in life, through death.  Their deeds will be remembered through a legendary story: The Saga of the Einharjar.

Mission Statement

This guild, The Sentinels of the Ragnarok, is a neutral aligned guild that will accept a variety of different members regardless of their class or race.  We want to maximize the experience of Planeshift on our way to become an upper echelon guild who will one day reside in a castle.  Our goal is to have fun with this online RPG and make it more fun for the people who join our guild with cool job classes and mobility to become an elite player in the guild.

New Developments

I have finished the guilds class structure, or Hierarchy.  The Hierarchy has recently been modified.  Now there will be three Orders under direct rule of Liege Lords and six Legions under direct control of Feudal Lords.

9. The Triumvirate - A three person council that leads the guild. (Valbrandr, Induane, and Hyrcanus)

8. The Einharjar - The protectorate of the Triumvirate.

7. The Varangian Guard - Elite fighting unit, preserve integrity of the guild.  This Rank will only be achieved by one Liege Lord who will become the Supreme Varagian of the guild.  They are agressive not defensive and will be comprised of elite Mercenaries.  Though Mercenaries they must be loyal to the guild.  All in this level will be under command of the Supreme Varangian.

6. The Comitatus - Overseers of the feudal system, resolves disputes between lords and vassals.

5. Liege Lord - Participate in the Feudal system of Vassalage. Have the ability to recruit Feudal Lords to your service, create a small army. (With the permission of the Triumvirate)  Three new Orders have been created.
Each will be ruled by a Liege Lord:  The Hospitalers, Knights Templar, and Teutonic Knights.

4. Feudal Lord - Participate in the Feudal system of Vassalage. Have the ability to recruit Knights to your service, create a small army.(With the permission of the Triumvirate) Six new Legions have been created each headed by a different Feudal Lord: Berserkers, Gladiators, Highlanders, Militia, Samarai, and Woad Raiders.

3. Knight - Seek and discover the mysteries of Planeshift.  Fight for your promotion to Lord.

2. Squire - Venture out and explore your surroundings. Gain experience on the battlefield.

1. Apprentice - Get accquanted with more elite members of the group. Absorb knowledge and learn the basics.

Guild Status

We currently have seven members with another five ready to join.

Well if you\'re going to use the nordic mythology, get used to comments about it being not related to Planeshift. Had that when starting Templars of Steel, so I finally made the story (you might want to check it) and no one seems to whine now...

the only issue i see is that you have guards who rank higher than lords, thats just strange, perhaps, change the top guards to a hero definition, after all the entire guild would protect its leaders

I understand why you would think that we are a good aligned guild but if we do that we narrow our options to recruits who are good and neutral when there are plenty of good players we might declare themselves evil.  As long as there actions do not negatively effect the guild I don\'t mind who joins.

I agree Draklar, the Varagian Guard is a must.  Maybe I should promote one Liege Lord to Supreme Lord who rules over the Guard.

yeah, I might be wrong here, but weren\'t Varagian Guards ruled by Varagians? If so you could rename lord to that...

That is somewhat true.  The first Varagians were ruled by Rurik who founded Novgorod.  He was a Varagian however, later they became an elite unit sworn to the protection of the Byzantine Emporer.  I will consider the change.  I do not have it on my website yet but under Feudal Lord I am going to make six sub classes.  One is Berserker, maybe the Lord of the Berserkers can be promoted to the Supreme Lord.

That\'s so not true! I\'d argue my point, if I wasn\'t too lazy.... :D

*insert usual remarks about sticking to PS background*

*insert usual congratulations and moral support*

Our website is not finished but it has been fixed.  We had some technical difficulties and the backgrounds were not showing up.  Post back with additional ideas.  Just remember it is not finished.

I elaborated on the story trying not to water down the substance.  Hope everyone enjoys it (Especially Draklar).  Post back if you like it and tell me what you think of the verb choices.
