\"-The equation is logarithmic for conversion. \"

wha ha ha thought so.  Sorry just happy with myself for predicting this was going to happen.  If any of the really active players had of thought of this, they could have created 10 seperate characters and distributed their diamond arounf, and ended up with twice or three times as much tria when they gave it all back to one character.  Which is, i suspect, why the devs were so silent about how the conversion was going to happen before it did, to prevent this.

EDIT: omg i just realised why the bug happens as well.  Because the log of a number between 0 and 1 is negative.  My guess is the formula for Tria = log (x/y), where x = total value of gems, and y = somewhere between 1 and 10.  This means if you had less than 10 or so rubies, x/y < 1, therefore the log must be negative.  Thats why you end up with negative tria!  mwha ha ha never thought all that maths would be of any use.  If only the conversion rate was done on the parametric equations of hyperbole, then the other 99% of the stuff i learnt might be useful as well :P

EDIT 2: After much useless calculations i have assatained that the formula for tria (at least the old one) is
*** drumroll *****

Tria = log to the base z of (X/Y)
where z approx = 1.0004575
x = total value of your gems (rubies = 1, emaralds = 10, diamonds = 100)
y approx = 10.39646

nice to see if a dev will reply and tell me how close i got......

This brings everything together - hence the \"if you have a certain number of gems you might get a special item\" post that made everybody consolidate their accounts in the hope of getting the item.

For your crystal collecting efforts you have been rewarded with 6808 trias to spend.
Because you were a skilled collector, you have also been given the special \'Ring of the past\' item.
My name is NOT pronounced, \"Kway-per,\" it\'s pronounced \"Kye-per.\"

Seems to be a pretty good deduction. Looks entirly possible that you\'re right :)

Agreed. It would definately be interesting to see the devs official word on the whole matter, I\'m very interested to see how this crystal transfer business was handled code wise.

i got a reply back from a dev, who said that my formula was close to correct.  it is definatly a logarithmic formula, mines not exact but ive tested it for a range of values between 100 - 27000 gems and its very close.  However they must have changed a bit for characters that have small amount of gems.

Ok, here I go:

For your crystal collecting efforts you have been rewarded with 10601 trias to spend.
Because you were a skilled collector, you have also been given the special \'Ring of the past\' item.

I got 12k trias and the ring.
I thought the rate would have been like 1k rubies = 1 tria,
nevermind, i\'ll be more greedy next time and not give crystals away :D
there\'s no place like 203.81.47.91

I\'m wondering if the equation also took into account how long you had been hunting? As a sort of, anti cheat.

For example, a two week old player with 800r would get less than a four month old player with 800r?

So far, it appears I did pretty well...

Ok, so there\'s an award for the power-gamers

...but is there any reward for us, noobie-helping poor sobs? ...i gave away all my gems several times (not that i had huge amounts of them). :( ...and AFAIR i\'ve been in MB since it\'s beging (on the forum probably since end AB).

and there\'s probably more players like me :(
