I too am having this problem. I dont have any weird white boxes, but only 15% of the letters are showing up, and i have to guess which buttons do what. I think i clicked update once, because the top bar started filling up with numbers, but then it stopped after it got full, nothing changed, and i didnt know what to do. Is there anyone on these forums that is directly hooked up with the development of the game that could tell us what to do?

This problem is probably with crystalspace, the 3D engine PlaneShift uses, and the direct contact with the crystalspace team that we have is Jorrit, also the leader of the crystalspace project. Some fixes have been comitted lately regarding fonts and text display, so perhaps that has een included in the latest update. I have noticed that this problem occurs only on my sister\'s laptop, which, incidentally has an ATi IGP bridge instead of the usual agp... Perhaps the poor opensource support of that type of thing has something to do with this? Well, I\'m no programmer, but you can talk with Jorrit about it in IRC if you want to... irc.freenode.net channel #planeshift , or, if you have mirc installed this link may work for you: http://irc://irc.freenode.net/planeshift.

We all hope that something will be done to resolve this soon, but it looks to me like this is something that will need to be fixed in Crystal Space, the underlying 3d engine, not PlaneShift itself.

if it is in the update, then someone who doesnt have a problem like us should post a screenshot of what the update screen looks like so we can navigate without guessing whats what.

i sure havent, i dont even know what IRC is.
Man, this is really frustrating. Everyone ive seen on these forums are all really cool and helpful, and the game looks AWESOME, and im even doing some 3d work that may or may not (most likely that latter of the two) go into the game, and i STILL havent played a single second of it.

http://chuncken.com/enigma/hosted/na/uploader/files/wtf.jpg

thats mine, transparent forground and background, as if the font is missing? I looked for any fonts in the install log... Each one was in the Fonts folder for Windows.

It was working before i got the update, then it just died... I also tried restarting my computer.

Btw, i have a

9600XT 128mb DDR, VPU @ 524mhz (CATALYST Version 4.12)
1.5gb DDR400 Ram
Soyo KT400 Ultra Platinum (VIA 4-1 Latest SP)
AMD Sempron 2600+ @ 2.3ghz, 1.75v

I shouldn\'t have any problems..

A workaround is to use the old glwin32.dll...
