I can sugest a workarround that worked for me:
1: i changed the desktop colour depht so i can create my character (16 bits)
2: I entered the game and at first it seemed that there were only the labels related bugs that afecterd me.
When i tryed to move, especialy when switching subregions (like the sewer entrance) i got 0.3-0.5 fps so the game was not playeble.
3: After trying for 2 hours different solutions i thought that switching to 32 bits might be crazy enough to work.
It is crazy and it works although that you have no buttons and no tabs in the chat channels.
4: I have a nvidia graphic card and i heared just now that the game works with the previous release of the drivers meanning 71.89.

except i keep getting drawn into walls though it migh be funny. it is really hard when the server is remembering where i am. and so it puts me back where i am stuck in the first place. not being a total noob i attetempted all of the available helps like /unstick to no avail.
Try using the unstick button several times and you will get teleported to death realm.
