Runtime Error!
« on: December 25, 2004, 11:24:50 pm »
I\'m getting this error message at various moments. Disabling sound doesn\'t help.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: D:\\TT\\gry\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue\\psclient.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application\'s support team for more information.

EDIT2: Now this one is weird.

For the devs to find the problem, they need your dump file. Read more about it here:

Yes, I\'m aware of that. I would post it if I had it. But it didn\'t ask me for a dump.

Hello, new to the boards, but I\'ve had the Runtime error as well. It\'s the most common one I\'ve ran into.

The game will sometimes boot up normally. I\'ll be able to log in without problem. When I go to connect to the game is when the errors pop up. Sometimes it\'s right at the start, sometimes the game runs a little.

Rebooting the PC, closing anything but Planseshift and the net, turning all the settings to their lowest (800x600, 15 bit depth), and selecting the OpenAL audio gave me the best results.  It still crashed after a few minutes, though.

It\'s a shame. CB looks very awesome. From what I did see of the game, it\'s going to be gorgeous.

For Thom:

This seems to crash Planeshift without the dump option coming up. I\'ve had it crash 15+ times today while I tried various settings. I never recieved the \'normal\' error message, only the C++ Runtime error message.
All through mythology you have tales of Knights slaying Dragons and rescuing the beautiful Princesses. In reality, that Knight\'s suit of armor is nothing but the wrapper to a human candy bar.

Bottom line: Metal Armor + Dragon flame = Medieval equivalent of a Dragon sized TV dinner.

Well, looks like it probably is memory as Vengeance suggested in irc.  A quick google search brought up four issues that could be the problem and along with virus, incompatability with other programs, or program issues, memory was one of the four.

After a good 6 hours of trying to get the game to run (longer if I\'m honest) I finally did get in, but would eventually get the error, and after listening to my hd grinding away pitifully while trying to run the game, I decided it was a lost cause for me.

Too bad.  I was interested in checking it out.

All the best.

D.
