mesh error and cursor bug

New to the game
I checked out cvs and I get the followin error when I try to setup a character (also note the cursor bug)

On Irc someone told me that the problem was that I was missing sprcal3d.so in the CS dir, but since I do have that file that couldn\'t be the problem.
Anyone have a clue what it might be?
