Downloaded PS for Linux, extract contents and did the symbolic link as follow
ln -s /usr/lib/libGL.so /usr/lib/libopengl32.so
Executed the pssetup to setup basic configuration.
Something does to make sense (logical) to me with creating of characters.
First one has to create an account, at this location
http://laanx.fragnetics.com/register/index.phpThough does not ask for an account name anywhere.
Then start up psclient-bin and select Create (to create a new character)
Choose an interesting name (single as no spaces allowed)
Choose the rest and get to upload screen
- server: planshift.fragnetics.com (using port 13331 as found in psclient.cfg)
- Login: character name (not an account name, can\'t edit it)
- New password: *****
- Retype password: *****
No field for even the account ID that was emailed.
Click on upload and nothing seems to happen. (presume that it did upload the character)
Click Back until first screen to Click on Connect
Fill in login name (tried both the account ID and Real name) and password as was requested for when creating the account.
Clicked on on Connect, yet get a message that server is down or not reachible.
Checked website to see 67 players online, yet client says the server is down, even checked DNS was working, pinged both servers (planeshift and laanx). I am on ADSL, so not problems of reaching the servers.
I even tried the Windows version on a duel boot PCs, same results.
I am baffled to why the client does not request a login account name (real name) or account ID at either the character creation process or connection sections.
I really would like to check this Online RPG world out, but the account system is very unfriendly and preventing me from experiencing the game. Maybe the account system should be looked at for future versions to make it more user friendly.
