New Update Problem
« on: January 02, 2005, 03:35:39 am »
Just downloaded the new updater, I can\'t see any text in the new updater but I managed to update the game anywayz.  Now when I launch the game I also can see any text, making it impossible for me to login...especially when theres an error popping up and i can\'t see whats on it.

Umm..help

Same here. Tried to run the updater again, but now there\'s the file zlibwapi.dll missing so the updater doesn\'t work anymore. In Setup and Client no text appears.

You can run the updater in dos-mode:

   go to planeshift directory and start \"updater.exe --auto\"

-> in this case you will see all messages in the dos-window.
I have loaded the latest update and (if you have completely downloaded it) it works fine... uhm, server is crashing now, but client is running without problems, as far as i could see client has no \"loading region crash\" any more.

\"updater.exe --auto\" doesn\'t work, zlibwapi.dll missing. Another idea?

zlibwapi.dll problem is still a bug with the images on update-server. But I dont think this is Nimbles problem.

-> You can copy libz-cs.dll to zlibwapi.dll ... after that you can start updater + psclient again.

EDIT: This should work for all WinXP + Win2k Users, Win98 + WinME Users still have to do more work to get the beast to run again... (see other thread for this)

Renaming the file libz-cs.dll to zlibwapi.dll makes the updater run again, but it won\'t update to the new version it seems. Can start the updater and run it as often as i will and it always loads something but the text is still not visible, as well as the version number doesn\'t change.

in the Planeshift folder i looked up Libz-cs.dll
2 results came up
i renamed one to Zlibwapi.dll and then copied them both
then i pasted them in the Planeshift Crystal Blue Folder
so now the updater runs fine and i can see everything
hope this is helpful

Same here, Nimble. But the thing is, the new version number is 3.005. Atm i\'m downloading the whole new client version, seems to be the only workaround...

Edit:
Doesn\'t work for me, dragonfire. Got only one libz-cs.dll, dunno where you got the second one from. Atm i have a libz-cs.dll and the renamed zlibwapi.dll in my planeshift directory, can start both the updater and the client, but no text.

@dragonfire999:
start explorer and goto Planeshift install directory
  c:/program files/PlaneShift Crystal Blue
then copy libz-cs.dll to zlibwapi.dll

@Nimble Rabit:

Try to start the updater-beast in DOS-mode, use this commands in DOS-window (you maybe will see \\program files\\ instead of \\programme\\):

C:\\>cd c:\\progra~1\\planes~1\\
C:\\Programme\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue>updater.exe --auto
Critical files () not found (Server only)

planeshift.updater.application:
  psUpdaterEngine initialized.
Downloading registry...
