New Update Problem

I keep getting similar errors when my updater decides it wants to update from its current version to another, can\'t understand why...it was working fine, I get a

Missing zlib.dll error, which I easlily downloaded from the internet

and a missing libfreetype2.dll error after I replacfe zlib.dll

Doesn\'t work for me, dragonfire. Got only one libz-cs.dll, dunno where you got the second one from. Atm i have a libz-cs.dll and the renamed zlibwapi.dll in my planeshift directory, can start both the updater and the client, but no text.

If you have found one libz-cs.dll you have won.
Right-click on it and select \"copy\". Then simple right-click in the folder and select \"paste\". Now you will see a File \"copy of libz-cs.dll\" (or similar). Then you can click on \"copy of libz-cs.dll\" and select rename -> enter new name as \"zlibwapi.dll\" and voila you have copied a file.

I\'ve already copied that file to zlibwapi.dll, makes the updater run again but there\'s still no text visible.

Tried the \"updater.exe --auto\" method:

thanks anywayz but none of these solutions worked for me.  Im trying to download the new version and just completely reinstall.

Should only take about 3 hours

I have no further idea, but if your files are now up-to-date...

Did you try to reboot after the update? Maybe some old sharable images or fonts are still loaded into memory.

I dont\'t hope this is a (new) problem for some graphics cards with the update.

I\'ll reboot when the download of the new client is ready, will still take about 10 minutes. Will post if this works.

Uninstalled the version ending with .004 and downloaded and installed .005

Did all of the above file copying and pasting, and running the updater --auto

still get no text, the version number on the title bar of the client still has .004, and if I put in my email and password, I get an error. I of course cannot read it since there is no text

well umm, i guess this is gay and stuff so i\'ll post system specs for the dev team so maybe they can figure out whats wrong.

p4 800fsb 3.0 processor
abit IS7 motherboard
512 mb pc3200 ram
Ati Radeon 9600se with omega drivers(crashes with ati drivers)
250 gig western digital 7200 rpm hd
420 watt power supply
Wireless internet connection
Windows Xp Pro

maybe something in there is causing a problem?  I dunno ill sit and wait for a fix.

Rebooting was no help, still no text visible. Will install the new client version now.. hope the Problem Keto describes won\'t appear...

Well mine\'s working, but is it really good for the game just copy old files and changing the names?

I\'ve installed the \"new\" client version, but it was still 3.004 (but at least the text was visible), so i updated the game (had to, because couldn\'t connect to the server due to wrong version), now i got the same problems as before: No text visible, can\'t connect to server, update says all files up to date. Altogether the same problem as Keto described.

I havn\'t finished downloading but i suppose ill get the same error as you guys.  Oh well maybe it will be fixed tomorrow.

Is there someone who got this working and is able to play on the server? Can\'t connect to the server, but it doesn\'t seem to be the \"wrong version\" problem as this message would appear directly after clicking the ok-button to log in. There is a message, appearing about 10-20 seconds after clicking ok, but can\'t see any text... oh well i\'m lying, i see the \"ok\" in the message window popping up...

My client IS working and the new release is bloody stable (had no crashes till now with 1024x768/32bit fullscreen and sound enabled!). No problem with level transitions any more till now.

Currently there are already 80 people online on the server which can all play without problems.

My system:
Win98, 512MB, GForce2 Ti 32MB -> no problem

Maybe all people having the \"no text in updater or client\" problem can post their system specs... maybe this occurs only on ATI Radeon cards or only on WinXP, etc.
This can help to find the problem faster for developers.
