XP system
« on: January 11, 2002, 01:45:12 am »
I don\'t see much about this.  Has this been determined if there is one?  Will there be a level cap?

Are you CrAzY of course we have one.

We\'ll have Stats and Skills, Stats are stuff like Strength, Agility, etc.,

whereas Skills are things such as

\'Two handed swords\'
\'Battle Axe\'

stuff like that.

I think like you get a bit of XP towards Stats and More toward s that specific skill

Lol, I think whitti has misread the question...

There\'ll be an XP system. You\'ll have the ability to gain XP by completing quests, good roleplaying, monster killing, and maybe even more things. When increasing in level you\'ll get new skills, new moves, and some fetures I will not yet reveal...

Your stats will remain the same over time as it looks now. It\'s something that\'s defined at character creation and that will not variate over time/xp. There might be exeptions to this rule though, like a curse that decreases your strengt score by 1 permanently untill a counterspell has been found.

you\'ll hear more on this later.

thanks for the replies, this was always a hot topic in Asheron\'s Call.  XP distribution and the loot system seemed to always be out of whack.  And by that, I mean, half of the players complained, the other half cheered.

It really depends on how the game runs.  If it is same level just betetr armour chances are no.  If there will be no certain xp gained on certain monsters ect.. then probably not, it will probably be based on how many things you fight.  Chances are there will be a xp.  Its pretty much what the whole game runs on.  Without xp you cant have overall advantages which mainly puts it to a boor.  Also you lsoe the excitement where your so close to gaining a level.

I just re-read this and noticed something, if skills won\'t be able to be increased with xp\'s, what will getting xp\'s be good for?

Also remember that the Skills are a tree based skill system as far as i can see. You gain as you use the skill.

Think UO rather than EQ...

ie, the more you use the Long Sword the better you get at it (EQ does this but it more than likely wont be level caped like EQ but will get progressivly harder to gain skill in the higher you get it)

I think the Level system might be used for the gaining of HP and such.

Correct me if im wrong Guys ^^.

yeah, AC uses a system much like this where skills are increased the more you use them, but skills do not go up with levels.  Skill credits (to buy more skills) go up about every 4 levels or so.

Ahhhhhh I see, thats gonna be awsome weapon xp!!  Is there a certain amount of xp you can get on each weapon?  If you trade for a weapon is the weapon going to have that same amount of xp or the xp from the weapon for the first the origional owner then they have to get it up themselves?

the weapon itself doesnt gain a thing... it is the weapon skill that gains points....

ok, so say theres a long sword, you use it for 2 monthes, you gain a lot of weapon points, you sell it, you buy a better weapon a different kind, do you have to start all over in points for that particular weapon?  Then if you get a better long sword do you have all those points for just a long sword?  Thats what im confused about!
