Limited rank on skills

i\'ve noticed that u can get at maximun rank on a skill.

In my case, i got stuck at lvl 10 on sword... so i tried luck skilling up my magic.

Whats my surprise i got stuck on lvl 6 in the crystal way, im an Ylian and even a kran can get a 8th rank in magic :(.

So, it\'s easy train skills and it would be fine if they are limited while more content will be added or the training progression changed...

It\'s the limitation on skills temporal or will it be permanent?

The skills that can presently be trained are limited by the NPC\'s abilities.  If you want to train higher, you\'ll need to find an NPC with better skills.

NPC limitations on training skills will stay.  They will, however, be greatly varied in their limitations.

(Ex: a lowly city guard may only train low levels of Sword, while a remotely hidden Master may train to very high levels.  Challenge in finding trainers should equal possible gains.)

It\'s more than that, Darkmoon.  You should be able to get up to lvl 30 in the crystal way, I think.  It\'s just like how I\'m stuck at lvl 3 at the sword skill.

NPC limitations on training skills is definetly good and logical idea.
Also it would be good if players could learn from each other. Learning from more experience one, of course. Maybe some teaching skills would be needed also because you need to know how to teach?

If I\'m not mistaken, telling the guy, who has pretty much designed all the NPCs in PS, about how the NPCs work isn\'t exactly the smartest thing to do. If he says some NPCs only train you to a certain level in some skills, then he is most likely right, don\'t you think? Or maybe you know better? :)

I am also pretty sure (note it says pretty sure as in not entirely) that you are limited by overall abbilities as well as the NPC limits. I\'ve been wrong before though.

Only with certain races. Ylians and Xachas have no limitations. 8)

So what is the actual advantage in skilling up magic?

More damge? faster casting? less failing?
Higher ranks spells i guess but there arent any glyphs for that :(

And for sword? damage? miss rate?

And is there an actual progression point limit you can earn?

Small side question how long does freeze 1 dmg per second work?

Let\'s say one would train to 10 and the other to 20. Stuff like this isnt hard to find out, dont be afraid to get your feet wet and just get to know the world of Yliakum a bit. :)

There is no limit on the amount of PP you can gain. If you want to know what ranking up a certain skill does, just give it a try.

Well, when you train your skills, you get better at them. That should be pretty obvious, so if you train swordfighting, you get better at that and if you train your magic, you\'ll be able to cast better spells, and cast them better, etc.

The same goes for pretty much any skill in the game. The more you train them, the better you get at them and the more stuff you can do with them.

Actually if you read my questions I was asking for \"what\" becomes better about the skills, you know I can figure myself that skilling up somehow improves them :rolleyes:

Like I said, it\'s more than that.  Yes, what you can get is determined by the NPC, but I\'m fairly sure that if I can\'t get past lvl 3 on swords, when it\'s common knowledge that jefecra trains up to lvl 10, that there is a problem independent of the NPC.

From what I can tell (re: what others have told me), it\'s a database error involving my character, and can only be fixed by an admin fixing whatever the hell\'s wrong.
