Game works till I update... what's up with that?

Ok, what\'s happening is that I install the game and then run it. Then at the main menu when I try to login it tells me I don\'t have the right version so then I run the updater and get version 1.0.2.1 and then the updater goes a little \"crazy\" and then tells me to restart the updater.

I try the game just to see if I can play with this version and now the main menu doesn\'t even come up. It\'s just says some kind of error and then it closes. So of course I go run the updater again and get version 1.0.2.2 and when it\'s done  it says I have a higher version then the servers.... what is that?

Well, I figured it was normal so I try the game again since I should have the newest version... and again the main menu never even shows up.

I\'m just wondering why the main menu would come up with no updates and then tell me to get the newest version when the newest version just crashes

Use that unofficial patched updater, at your own risk of course. I used it to fix my game and I can vouch that it works.

i get this error useing your updater  LIBCURL.dll not found re-installing the aplication may solve this problem???  any ideas?

I also have problem with this updater. Almost same as dracox87\'s here or phatiman\'s problem from another thread (which was locked while I was writing this)

My problem:
I downloaded newest version (v3.005) few minutes ago and installed it. Then I updated it as the manual said. The updater noticed that it needs to update itself and it did download new updater and asked to restart it.
I did restart as it wanted, but suprisingly all the fonts were invisible. So there was only a background picture displayed on updater screen.
At this point I figured out that something went wrong with the update and reinstalled the game. And tried the update again. No difference.
So I again reinstalled this game and found another updater from this forum:

So I installed (copied to correct location) that one and then started updater. Now the texts onscreen could be read so I let it update the game.

Next I started the game (actually I did run the config-utility first) and noticed that all of it\'s fonts were now missing! (also config utility\'s fonts were invisible)
Then I logged here to report this bug

Just few seconds ago I checked how updater looks now.  It has the same problem as the game itself, it has no fonts . So there is not anything written on updater-screen, only the background.

So the problem is that either the fonts are drawn with some opaque color - or font files are missing and those are not drawn at all. And this bug can be seen in the game itself, in the config utility and in the updater.

So... Might it be that the update did somehow delete used font graphics or something like that?

The fonts issue is fixed with a different file. I can\'t remember where it is, but search about and you might find it. (It\'s a .dll file you need to place in your PS directory.)

And no, the font bug isn\'t caused by this updater file.

And thanks for the info, the non-radeon-compatible glwin32.dll-file did this missing fonts thing to me.

If anyone other has this same problem, just do the update with the fixed updater and then copy this file to the game directory:
http://www.home.no/greysmiley/glwin32.dll

That should fix the problem.

i got tehe problem with the updater :/  I think someone messed up something in the updater update it shouldn\'t update the file to v1.0.2.2. I\'ll try the unofficial updater.

i have the exact same problem as dracox87. i downloaded the installer - installed the game.. Open up the game and when i try to connect says \"You do not have the same game version as the server\" or something like that....
So, i go to the updater, click update, and it downloads \'the new updater\', ver 1.0.2.2 and then it says my updater is newer than the servers.. ? I load up the game and its a black screen and an error comes up in the background. I reinstalled the game and did the same thing. I reinstalled the game and tried the unofficial updater and i get the same message, Unable to find LIBCURL.DLL reinstalling the application may help bla bla bla.. I reinstall the game and redownload the update and still the same thing....

yer, i got the same problem with that unoficial patch, it says LIBCURL.dll was not found...., and the updater says that its newer than the server. when i try to play the actual game it says there was an error, and then closes.

WHAT DO I DO, man, its annoying i spent like 2 hrs downloading the game, and I CANT GET IT TO WORK!

I had this problem too, until i copied it to the same location that the original updater.exe file is located (please, make sure you don\'t just overwritye the original - back it up by renaming to updaterexe.bak or something)

I too can vouch that the new patched updater works.... and aslong as you dont forget to

*COPY THE NEW UPDATER INTO YOUR PLANESHIFT FOLDER*

before running it then you should have no problems.
