Spawn Point
« on: January 05, 2005, 05:10:58 pm »
I think that players of planeshift should be able to set a spawn point. A spawn point is a place where people can spawn if they say /spawn.
For exemple; a player is in oajaveda, then he/she says /set spawn point. and then it says in the chat window: setting spawn point to ojaveda. (The player has to be in the region of setting the spawn point, or elese he can just teleport around al over the world.) And then when he/she says /spawn, he/she moves to the spawn point ^^

Nope to this idea, the players would use the spawn points as portals for travel.

So people would go there, set the spawn point, and...

use the spawn points as portals for travel.

Exactly. :)

The devs are tinkering with the idea of region-based spawn points- but not player-defined ones.

Region spawn points make sense and a little kinder to the players but still prevents the single LONG distance porting.

What about each region has it\'s spawn point set to the nearest town market or temple. If an area does not have a town then the nearest area with a town is used. Though I would say preferbly the spawn point should be in a temple as if raised from the dead.

That is if you have the skills to spend :)

Good! The way it is now you can skip the death realm or transport yourself back Hydlaa Plaza from where ever you are by taking advantage of /spawn.

Shrines:
« Reply #9 on: January 06, 2005, 03:39:33 am »
I agree, there should be Spawn points in every area or @ least most areas.

I think there should be a \"Shrine to the death god\" in every area in which would act sort of like a spawn point only that every time you die, after exiting the DR  you spawn @ the last shrine you visited, not just the one nearest to you when you died. You will always be able to tell were a shrine is because they all look the same.

I was also thinking the DR could be a sort of \"Parallel universe\" were there are many exits each to a different spawn point. when you die in a certain area you spawn in the DR in a different place, then you can ether find your way out the easy way, or journey your way out to another exit spawning you in another area then you were before. the DR could be a form of transportation this way, (only harder than normal.)

But I like the shrine idea better.
We do not have to call them \"Shrines to the death god\" ether, they could be called \"Undeath Portals\" or \"Gates of Re-life\" or something....

After getting stuff at the start area in DeathRealm a few times, I now just use /spawn to get out seeing that walking onto the tongue only takes you a little distance from the game entry spawn point.

Yep, I already walked the entire DR already, trying out every nook and cranny, portals (very dead at the moment), etc. Definitely once DR is completed I think exploring the realm of death will be an interesting adventure, but definitely not so at the moment.

I think there should be regional spawn points.  The only thing I can compare it to is WoW.  Like if you die close to a certain city then your ghost will appear at the nearest spawn point which is in the city.  So if you were on your way to Ojaveda and die at the close to the city, instead of being sent all the way back to the main city after you come out of the death realm you will appear in Ojaveda.
