First of all, I would like to thank David , Chaos and all the other enterprising Mac users of this thread :)

I\'ve downloaded the new v3.006 .DMG file, updated it with the newest Chaos updater, changed the vfs.cgf then  followed the quoted steps ...

psclient doesn\'t run from the Terminal ... here\'s my log (the same bug reported  by bodwar):

Quote

It seems that we have to wait for a new version of the client ...

Have a nice weekend.

Ok. So I ran cha0s\'s updater from the terminal (java -jar Updater.jar nogui), replaced the vfs.cfg file, changed the permissions of the file inside the client package with chmod 755, and made sure that the file libcal3d.11.dylib is in /usr/local/lib..

Still didn\'t work: \"could not find /sw/lib/libpng12.0.dylib\"..

So I created the dir /sw/lib myself and put the libpng12.0.dylib there from psclient/Contents/Resouces AND IT\'S WORKING!

Thanks a ton dfyer and Cha0s!

Those that it isn\'t working for: Try NOT running psclient from the Terminal. Just double-click it. Also make sure that the vfs.cfg file is the right one or nothing will happen when you try to launch PS.

P.S. Awww... Fullscreen doesn\'t work, even when I set it to true in planeshift.cfg :(
P.P.S. But I can play the game, so no worries. :)

Yes! it works!

I can also see the all the menu bottons!

Do we need to let all this libraries where they are now once all this bugs will be fixed?

I just glanced through the pages in this topic and I can\'t make heads or tails of anything. This is all I\'ve done.
I did \'chmod 755 psclient\'.
My version is PlaneShift_CBV0.3.006
It is exactly the same as what was in the .dmg file other than doing the chmod on it.
I am averagely computer literate but there are way too many posts in this topic to search through.
If I run psclient using the .app file I get a white window for about 10 seconds then crashes.
This is the output I get when I run from the command line.

P.S. Could a new topic be created called something like \"Mac status\" which contains the current working status of the mac version and have it be locked so that only ops and mods can edit it. This would save you time to work on the program more and have to spend less time answering annoying questions like mine.

For me, both the client and updater are working from the command line, not the icon.

The updater installed without the executable bit set.  Also, as someone pointed out, I moved libcal earlier in the process.  So this technique worked fine for me.  Perhaps there is a better way.

1. Get downloads.
2. Change vfs.cfg
3. Copy libcal to where it needs to be
4. Run Cha0s\'s updater
5. Chmod 755 both the psclient and the updater
6. Run updater from terminal
7. Run client from terminal

and I\'m on!

May all your sequences converge.

Change the order

I would run the updater immediately after the download, the updater will modify the vfs.cfg file back to the original, so you\'ll end up having to change the file again.

I think some will get on and I think others like myself cannot, not because for lack of trying but something to do with versions?? Does it have to be the compiled version??  Who knows, I\'m not that savvy.  I don\'t think its the later because I do at least get the crystalengine started.  Vroom, vroom but can\'t get out of park, i.e., past the logon window.  GUI issues, no interaction.

I\'ve decided to wait and for the new updates and a status report.  I recall an issue dfyer had mentioned (few pages ago) about a \"logon windows problem\".  This error would start out like this, (if that is how I understand it):

crystalspace.maploader: Could not get model converter
crystalspace.maploader: Could not get model crossbuilder

For those who can\'t get on right now, sit back wait.  But while your waiting, what a wonderful chance to go back in this thread and read about the UNIXy stuff.  If your like me and have never ventured under the hood of OS X what a great way to learn.  I\'ve learned a lot.

Playing ... or attempting to play has been very interesting, i can tell you i know more UNIX now then 1 month ago. XD

I wonder if we could make a \"chatroom\" in iChat so we can talk about the game, its going to be much faster then the forums.

I think i know what may be the problem, but this may mean nothing.

I have older versions of planeshift, for example, the MAC beta, and the version before i used chaos\'s updater. Should i ditch these? I would also like to add that the mac beta version was the only one where i could open the client. In fact, i could get as far as the char creation screen, but now it says that that version is outdated.

Planeshift is working for me.

I\'ve uninstall my previous version, reinstall the current version.

My updater don\'t work, so i\'ve used the Cha0s updater

chmod 755 psclient

and go go go !
Sorry for my poor english, I\'m french.

PlanseShift is working now, for me at least... hardly any of the character/sprite textures work though, because of libpng file. Is there a solution for this yet?

Have noticed the vfs.cfg file is now up to date.  It matches the one from Dfryer\'s page 9 link.

But, alsas, even with that.  I\'m still no go.  I get to the login window and can\'t get passed it because I can\'t interact with the gui.  Also, still cannot run it from double-clicking.

Just installed the latest version downloaded from the ps website.  Ran the alternative updater.jar and then downloaded the new vfs.cfg, while changing nothing else.  Runs from doubleclick; hasn\'t crashed yet (iBook G4 1.2/768/10.3.7).  Many thanks to dfryer and cha0s.

Your welcome! I\'m just glad everything is working now! :)

shifthappens: The latest vfs.cfg file is still wrong, unfortunately. You still have to copy from dfryer\'s link (I just copied the file and renamed it vfs2.cfg. Then after updating, I just copy it and rename it so I don\'t have to go find that link after every update. :) ).

EDIT:
For those still having problems getting it to work, I suggest this:

1. Download the latest full distro posted by dfryer on the main site.
2. Update via whatever method you can (if you use my updater, don\'t use zipentries, just to be safe)
3. Make sure the executable bit is set for the client.
4. Copy libcal3d.11.dylib from psclient.app/Contents/Resources/ to /usr/local/lib/
5. Update the vfs.cfg file from the link dfryer posted.
6. Double-click the client and play. :)
