my mistake about the vfs file.  I thought it had been updated, I swear I saw it.  Eyes playin tricks.

But even with this again copied, pasted...still no workie.

Ah...but wait!  I wasn\'t saving the file correctly.  I knew it had to be me.  I was saving it as a Worldtext doc.  I changed the format to Plain Text with Encoding and viola.

Happy trails....

Getting tired of seeing the login window.  Can\'t seem to get past it.

I\'ve got functionality, can input login name & Pass but the program claims it can\'t find the server even though I see the ping time on the screen and the activity on my dsl router.  I\'ve gone as far as bypassing all routers and still get can\'t past this screen.

Can\'t seem to find the answers on the other forums for this issue.  I can also see the fragnitics server info and can see about 100 people online.  I know it\'s not the server.

Ideas anyone?

ok guys I got a real newbie question to ask, once you have run Chaos\'s updater, what did you do with all the files?  Did you simply replace the original Planeshift files with the new ones from the update?

Should be run from inside your Planeshift folder.  It will up the files automatically.  All you have to do is watch the status bar.

That and change the vfs.cfg file as mentioned adnausium the last 24 hrs. :)

Help?
« Reply #274 on: February 06, 2005, 01:24:39 am »
I\'m pretty sure this has been posted before, but I have not seen a direct response to it yet.  I have moved libcal3d.11.dylib, I have changed vsf.cfg to match the link from dfryer, I have set the executable bit for the updater and client, and I have the lastest version, yet I get the following error message: Crystal Space for MacOS/X 0.99 r0 [MacOS/X-powerpc-GCC]
Ported to MacOS/X by Eric Sunshine

WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.kernel.vfs\'
Couldn\'t load VFS plugin \"crystalspace.kernel.vfs\"!
ERROR: csInitializer::SetupConfigManager failed!
Is your CRYSTAL environment variable set?

Can anyone please help me fix this? I would really like to play.  Thank you for your time.

Aramis:  How are you trying to launch?  Terminal or Gui?  If by terminal, once you have the correct vfs.cfg, you can launch by double-clicking psclient.

However, if like me, you just saved the vfs.cfg file as anything other than \"plain text with encoding\" the file won\'t be understood by the program and you\'ll get that response.  At least that was in my case.

I have tried both ways, with Terminal I get the affore mentioned error message, with the GUI I get the \"unexpectedly quit\" Error.  I used textedit to modify the vfs.cfg and near as I can tell everything I save is in plain text w/ encoding.  Thanks though, I did go back and double check that after your earlier post, it\'s not something I would have thought of.

If you dl\'d CSV0.03.006 and ran the updater (java version) and if
your libcal3d.11.dylib is in the usr/local/lib folder and if
your libpng12.0.dylib in the sw/lib folder and if
your vfs.cfg file is identical to the file as linked on page 9 by dfryer and if your not accidentially updating over your vfs.cfg with the old file and if
your certain the file name is purely named vfs.cfg and not appended
as an .rft or .doc and if
your not currently enrolled in a 4 yr, graduate school in computer science, I\'m afraid I can\'t help you.  This is all I know so far.  :)

I\'m not able to get online but I have been able to get the program to finally start up.  All I can say is sit tight, things will change and we\'ll eventually be able to get on.

ok, where do I create the sw/lib folder(sw folder doesn\'t seem to exist and would I create it in usr, or which directory?) and I\'ll try copying said file into it and see what happens.  Thanks

Unless something has gone terribly wrong, you should NOT have to move anything to /usr/local/lib or /sw/lib.. can anyone confirm that this IS or IS NOT an issue with the current version?

Thanks,
Daniel

Aramis

The quickest way I\'ve found is to use the \"finder\".  While in finder use the \"GO\" pull down menu.  Select \"Go to Folder...\"  Type in /sw.  Press enter.  Your are now in /sw.  If you don\'t have a lib stored in the /sw, then you need to create a lib folder.  So you have the path /sw/lib.  Which you will then copy the said file to this folder.

The best thing I can offer is to have you read the thread.  There are some really good entries.  I learned more bout my \'puter this last few weeks than I have in a lifetime.

Dfryer

You know it seems like few times I reinstalled I didn\'t have to fuss with the lib files.  This is true, I didn\'t have that problem.  Just last night.

Not sure of it is actually an issue or not dfryer, just trying things out to see if I can get it running.  Speaking of which, I have read the entire thread, and when I use Go to folder and type /sw it says folder cannot be found, which is why I asked where I should create it.  Thanks again for all the help
