i was all excited when i updated my client and got it to work after chmoding it. but what this? as soon as i got in i \"fell down and died.\" then when it tried to load the death realm it crashed and wont start again. oh well i guess more waiting.
on a more positive note im happy to announce that i remove the files libpng12.0.dylib and libcal3d.11.dylib from usr/local/lib and it still works. which means no more file moving good work dfryer.

With what I have, I can get in but Hydlaa Plaza is waaaayyy mis-lit (looks like it\'s permanent night, except in odd places).  I have an update ready to be put in place that MAY fix some of the loading crashes, but might not.  Crash logs (~/Library/Log/CrashReporter/psclient.crash.log) are helpful (but only the most recent crash, not the entire log!)

I get to the point when the plaza is about to be lit and then it crashes.  I do not have a psclient.crash.log

Anything else I can do to help?

EDIT: Okay, I DO have a psclient.crash.log.  I\'m not sure when the last crash begins, as I\'m not accustomed to reading these.  Thus, I give you the last several lines:

For each separate crash it will give a date & time, and say (further down from that) \"Thread 0 Crashed:\" or \"Thread 1 crashed\" and then list a bunch of stuff, which identifies where in the program it was when it died.

I downloaded the latest version this morning with chaos\' java updater, but the client doesn\'t want to run? What\'s the matter ? I need to do something else maybe, but I don\'t know what?

I finally got it installed on my mac, made a character(could?nt choose every race, had a couple crashes, but now i?ve got one) but after that it allways crashes during loading. I never made it into the game, but i?ll keep trying!
I looked in the crashreport, it?s pretty long and i?m not sure if this is the right part...

you probably need to chmod it
go to terminal and type \"chmod 755 /\" without the \". then drag your psclient into the terminal. then type \"/Contents/MacOS/psclient\" without the \". that should at least make the psclient doubleclickable though anyway due to technical problems the client isnt working yet but youll at least be able to make a character.

Yeah, I noticed (before the last update, perhaps this has been fixed) and several others I have talked to noticed that Hydlaa, especially when loading into it from another realm in the game was dark, i.e. black in most 3d planes, except for building walls and animations like the fire at the temple. Never noticed this problem in any other region, but I don\'t think it\'s a new problem. Thought I\'d let you know, and I would be willing to play in the black Hydlaa until the new distro, I spend most of my time outside killing Tefusangs and at Ojaveda anyway.

Also, any idea when the 3.007 and update will be up?

Thanks dfryer, your hard work is much appreciated by me and I\'m sure every other mac user in Yliakum.

When the game\'s back up everybody, we should organise a party in Kada-El\'s for dfryer, chaOs and eveyone that has helped in making the mac distro happen in planeshift, what do you all think?

Cheers,

Xirius

I wouldn\'t mind a party... Parties are fun. :D

Anyway, the Hydlaa problem has been around for a while, but if you go other places (the magic shop, sewers, etc.) you will still see a few random black textures. This problem was *never* completely fixed to my knowledge, but as long as you can see enough to get around it\'s more of a looks thing than function. As for the update, there should be one available now (as previously mentioned), but how well it works is a question of debate...

It works...

I used the  Updater.app thru the terminal. The game version is now 3.0.7 and works well, no need to move files or change anything. The Hydlaa plaza looks dark, but the rest of the areas are unaffected. My only complain its that the psclient.app only works when using the terminal. :(
I don\'t remember who said something about a Mac Guild, im in! where do i sign? :P

Right, I finally got it to work, though the darkness in Hydlaa plaza is still there...But it works, I\'m so happy

I really just about accidentally stumbled across this, so I\'ll walk through what I did for those addicted mac people like me who are too impatient.

1. I deleted everything and re-downloaded it.

2. I did the vfs.cfg thing in step two: http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=14416&boardid=33&styleid=3&sid=b8b0eb9c060a21144e7b3c6c2367c4f7&page=1#1

3. I attempted to run the updater.app, didn\'t work, so I ran chaOs\' updater.

4. I did step five of chaOs\' guide (above)

----this is about where most mac users are I think, since the file moving is unnecessary. Unfortunately, it crashes in the middle of loading Hydlaa plaza----

5. I tried running the regular updater through terminal, didn\'t work, so.... in terminal I typed \"cd \" followed by dragging the MacOS folder from the contents of the updater. Hit enter. Then I typed \"chmod 755 updater\"

6. I double-clicked on the updater, didn\'t work, so I ran it through Terminal, it worked: \"cd \" then drag the planeshift folder to the window. Enter. Type: ./updater.app/Contents/MacOS/updater

7. Ran planeshift through the updater: ./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient

And it worked!!! Right, I condensed this down from a terminal that had probably couple thousand lines, so hopefully it\'s true to what I did to get this to work. Unfortunately, like Alos said, you gotta run everything through the terminal.

Hopefully this will help some of you, I am only starting to learn basic unix-type commands.

See you in Yliakum,

Xirius
