Mac OS Package!

From what I understand, dfryer is working on the ports alone.  Would you be interested with another hand helping out?  I\'m not overly experienced with Mac development at this point, but I am comfortable with reading code.  if you don\'t want someone such as myself working with you directly, could you point me in the direction of some resources so that I can learn to help out better?

I downloaded a previous version and played for a while.  (After the however long it took to read through the forums to get things working. It was back when we had to relight the death realm.)  It was worth it, I think.

I\'m having the same problem; I was finally able to create a character but the app always quits about a quarter of the way through loading the plaza. I had to do the whole install process twice before I got it to work, and now I can\'t get in... =(

So... for some reason the disk image won\'t mount.  It says something about \"invalid checksum.\"  Any clues?  Is this fixable, or is it some random quirk of my computer?

I\'ve got a problem with starting up applications out of my terminal window. the reponse is:
tcsh: ./updater.app/Contents/MacOS/updater: Permission denied.

I am Administrator, so i don\'t understand this response.
Any idea whats the problem?

To fix the problem, follow these instructions:

1. Open Terminal
2. Type:  \"cd\" DONT WRITE , PRESS THE SPACEBAR \" \"!
3. Drag the Planeshift 3D folder into Terminal and hit return
4. Type: \"cd updater.app/Contents/MacOS\" and hit return
5. Type: \"chmod 755 updater\"
6. DONE!!! NOW YOU CAN OPEN IT FROM THE FINDER TOO!

Alternatively, you can type cd, followed by a space, then open your Planeshift 3D folder, control-click updater.app, \"Select show package contents\" (A new folder will open with one folder, Contents) and then open up Contents. Then drag the MacOS folder into the Terminal and hit return. Then \"chmod 755 updater\". One less \"cd.\"

When I finally got mine to work..or at least allow me to create a character, the only thing that I had been doing wrong was with each command line in Chaos\' guide I started over, clearing the terminal\'s writing. What you need to do is keep on using the same window even if some of the writing from the last command goes on to the next one. I\'m not sure if that makes sense but it is the only thing that I did different after many faliures.

Yes, that\'s supposed to happen. You use only one Terminal window.

I still crash when trying to load the plaza, and can\'t get into the game.  Anyone able to get around this?  I\'ve been out for a week now *sob*.

i did this but it still crashes after being open for about 5 seconds.

Could start the updater (the original one; i did the chmod 755 thing in the terminal) with double-click. So i startet it, and it even began to download the registry, but the updater responsed, that it couldn\'t open the register... update stop..
I downloadet newest Stuffit Expander... still not works..
I used the Chaos-updater before, is it maybe because of this?

Since one week now i tried almost everything i found in this forum to get it work and the game still crushes while loading the Plaza..  I start to think, that there is no game at all. It\'s just a global psychological experiment to watch the people, how far they will go, and how many houres of forum-research they invest, to get a MMORPG for free!! ;-)
But one thing I tell you; I know my mac now better the ever before, so thx 4 education.

Does anyone solved the problem with the Plaza-loading-error? If, then please write a final thread, where all needet steps are explained, so the people havent to cruise through all threads.

Finally it worked. Im standing on the Plaza.
This was my way to make it happen:
(For this, the planeshift folder has to be in the /Application folder on your Disk!)

Then I started up the game by doing this in the terminal:

     cd /Applications/PlaneShift\\ 3D/psclient.app/Contents/MacOS

     /Applications/PlaneShift\\ 3D/psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient

-I did this step by drag and dropping the files into the terminal window.

4. Ingame I choosed the Laanxserver and my Char and it loadet without any crushes:)

To fix it, u have 2 open with a text editor the file psupdater.cfg and replace \"xmlread\" with \"tinyxml\"...
