Mac Build Issues
« on: January 07, 2005, 02:04:10 pm »
Hardware Overview:
  Machine Model:    Power Mac G4
  CPU Type: PowerPC G4  (3.2)
  Number Of CPUs:  2
  CPU Speed:   867 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU):    256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
  Memory:   1 GB
  Bus Speed:    133 MHz

System Software Overview:
  System Version:   Mac OS X 10.3.7 (7S215)
  Kernel Version:    Darwin 7.7.0

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It appears the Mac Build does not want to work.

You hit \"psclient\" to lauch Planeshift, and the load screen pops up for about 3 seconds, then closes immediately.

Try opening a terminal (applications/utilities/terminal) and entering the following:

Code: [Select]

sudo ln -s /Applications/PlaneShift\\ 3D/psclient.app/Contents/Resources/libcal3d.10.dylib /usr/local/lib/libcal3d.10.dylib

PlaneShift is looking for libcal3d in /usr/local/lib, that that line will create a symlink to the location PlaneShift is looking (if you\'re not su it will as for your admin password once you\'re su enter the line.)

I don\'t know if anyone else has seen this on their Macs, but the toolbar that is supposed to be on top of the screen is completely invisible, and the only way to see the options it actually holds is by scrolling over the top of the screen very slowly until the tooltip pops up.

This just me?  Or everyone else on the Mac build see the same problem?

Hi there,

Well, I get the very same problem. At least, we\'re not alone.

Anybody has a tip ?

Thank for your help, and needless to say, thank for PS. Great job, guys...

Rip The Jacker: I have the same problem, so it might be the Mac build.  Another way to do what Unshra said is to go into the package contents of ps client>contents>resources, duplicate libcal3d.10.dylib, move it to /usr/local/lib (which can be found by the go menu: you may have to create a lib folder), and remove the \"duplicate\" ending.

Libcal3D

I have problems with that file, too, in the crash report it says that the file isn\'t there...that terminal command said the same thing. I\'m not experienced with the terminal enough to go looking for the file...I suppose I\'ll leave it to the developers.

Yes, I misconfigured a couple files to look for libcal3d in the wrong place.  I\'ll also look into problems with the invisible menu and the updater for next fix.

Note that this is all discussed in a thread in \"Crystal Blue Problems/Bugs\"

Thanks
Daniel

The Terminal fix worked for me.

Just wanted to pass it on that the terminal fix listed worked for me.  Is there some way we can make sure this is not issue in the next Mac build?

I know exactly why it was a problem and it has been fixed.  I still haven\'t determined why the updater isn\'t working correctly, but I\'ll be working on that.

Thanks,
Daniel

if you\'re getting an error that says \"no such file or directory\" when running this command:

sudo ln -s /Applications/PlaneShift\\ 3D/psclient.app/Contents/Resources/libcal3d.10.dylib /usr/local/lib/libcal3d.10.dylib

then try this command instead:

sudo ln -s /Applications/PlaneShift\\ 3D/psclient.app/Contents/Resources/libcal3d.10.dylib /usr/lib/libcal3d.10.dylib
