Help people that needs it.
« on: January 09, 2005, 05:16:46 am »
Hi,
as you may know an horrible disaster hit India, Malaysia and near countries. These people have seen their houses destroyed and lost loved ones.

Many of them are in a desperate situation, no house, no money, no food. They deserve our help.

Please consider donating some money to help them survive:

Thanks,
  PlaneShift Team.

So far there are 165000 deaths, that\'s over 16 times the disaster of the WTC and that doesn\'t count the starvation and the epidemics still coming and the people still missing.

And still those people have a behaviour that needs to be commended, god knows that when such a disaster hits you\'d have plenty of reasons to become apathetic to life but not them, no sir, they directly started to rebuild and I admire that.

That said donations systems exist in almost any country so you can look at the one that appeals the more to you before donating

Actually those numbers are a very rough estimate and cnn said that they will probably triple by the time the mess is sorted out.

Its really scary to see the pics, leta alone be there. I sw of a pic of a city that was completely under water, and I mean COMPLETELY.  I wish there was somthing I could do to help, like use Noahs water thing to ake the water away. Or travle back in tim and build a big wall to stop the waves.  Ah, its just. Im speech1less.

They are having problems getting the aid in because every damn politician is taking up whats left of the runways for their photo ops.

This surely is a tragic event, and these people also surely are in a bad situation. However, let\'s not forget that the effects of the disaster are rather short-term and finite. There are literally millions of people whose entire life is like this: having no house, no food, losing loved ones. I\'m talking about all the countries that are oppressing their people and / or that have constant civil war.
So while it certainly isn\'t useless to donate to the victims of the flood, we must also try to help these other people, who, unlike flood victims, don\'t hav any hope.
Obviously, giving money to the governments of these countries isn\'t the way to go, but that\'s way off topic.

So yes, the flood is bad, and help is appropriate, but it isn\'t the only thing that needs our help.

Thank you Talad for following through with posting something instead of saying yes but doing nothing, I appreciate it alot mate :)

Keep those funds coming if you can the smallest bit helps, don\'t turn your back on those who need it. This situation can very well be our own one day so help them on their two feet as we would want them to do for us.

I think I read that the 5 billion they have raised so far works out to more than a year\'s income for every man, woman and child in the entire region now.

Hope it gets put to good use.
