Having learned about this game project last night, I decided to download it from apple\'s website. After a fairly long download, the dmg file mounted and I copied the \'PlaneShift 3D\' folder across to my Hard Drive.
I was immediately suspicious on looking at the files in the folder - the two that I was interested in were \'psclient\' and \'updater.\' Instead of them having custom icons, the icons were the generic OS X system icon: A piece of paper with an \'A\' for application.
I ran the updater, which seemed to be all ok - after a short wait, it downloaded a file of size 512KB called \'repos.zip\' to the planeshift folder. The file did not unzip on its own, and returned an error message when I tried to do it manually.
Unsettled by this, I ran the client. The splash screen appeared and some music began to play, but the program abruptly terminated unexpectedly.
I downloaded from the official site with the same results - an unexpectedly quitting client and a zipped file that refuses to open.
I\'m pretty mad. What are the Mac system requirements for this game, as I have not found any on the site? Maybe that\'s the problem. I\'m on a 1.6Ghz iMac with 256MB (soon to be 1024MB) of RAM.
Anyway, I suggest the devs check that their download is complete and uncorrupted. The file size quoted on the website is about 280MB for the download, whilst the actual file downloaded is only 272MB.
Thanks in advance for any help!
