If you want to reskin/edit the skins of a race go to your \\planeshift\\art\\ directory and unzip the archive \"Models-zip\" into your art folder.
Now look for directory of the race you want to change.
The directories are labeled as followed:
planeshift\\art\\dermm\\ = Dermorian male
planeshift\\art\\enkif\\ = Enkidukai female
planeshift\\art\\enkim\\ = Enkidukai male
planeshift\\art\\fynnwn\\ = Ynnwn female
planeshift\\art\\kran\\ = Kran (neither nor)
planeshift\\art\\stonebf\\ = Stonebreaker female
planeshift\\art\\stonebm\\ = Stonebreaker male
planeshift\\art\\ylianm\\ = Ylian male
planeshift\\art\\ynnwnm\\ = Ynnwn male
In those directories look for the *.jpg files (for Female Ynnwn) *.bmp files (head, torso, arm, hand, pants and foot texture of male stonebraker) and *.png files (hair of Stonebraker male, dermorian male, Enki female, Enki male, Kran, Stonebraker female, Ylian male, ynnwn male).
Each race has several different textures (Head, torso, legs, foots, and so on.)
Open them in your image editing programm (photoshop or corel photopaint rcommended)
Then use them as base for some recoloring/-tatooing work or as UV-Map on which you make your own textures and save them.
Now if you want to use them instead of the old ones make a backup copy of your \"models.zip\", then rightclick on the directory of the race you have changed and click \"add to zip\", then click on \"open\" then in the menu go back to \"\\planeshift\\art\\\" and select \"models.zip\", Then click \"add\" and when you start Planeshift the next time you have your desired textures.
Some tips on recoloring:
- You can easily make good looking recolors by changing the brightness and color preferences of the texture.
- If you are changing the color of some parts manually (eyes fore instance) keep in mind to use darker colors for darker spots and brighter for brighter.
Have fun!
