Advisor mode
« on: January 11, 2005, 02:44:12 am »
Hi,
I\'m having troubles with the advisor mode...

I use it this way :

I type : /advisormode on

I\'m waiting for a question...
(for exemple : XXX asks: How do I ...)

I type : /advice XXX you must ...
(XXX is also assigned to me)

when I just have to say one thing it\'s ok but how do I continue the session...?

Because when I type again : /advice XXX anything else ?
The servers tells me XXX did not ask for assistance...

I saw you could \"End a session\" but I did not find the command in the online manual...

Thank you in advance... :)

this is not really a bug and should be moved to the proper forum but to answer your question :

An advisor is set to answer someone\'s questions so if your first answer is the right one the person asking for advice will stop doing so and thus will close the session so to speak.

If the person making the question has more of them she simply will ask them through the system and you will be able to answer again.

Or in short, it is not up to the advisor to keep the session going :)

Darakus: You are incorrect. If the Advicee carries on asking more questions during a session, the Advicer should be able to answer them (and always has been able to before now).

Xamdnarg: Yes, this is a bug we hope will be fixed soon, if it isn\'t already.

Hello Moogie,

I\'m sorry if I misread him but it seemed as if he described a situation where the advicee did not have anymore questions in which case the session would close itself.

However if you say there is a bug then obviously you are better placed than me to know this and I apologise for having possibly led to confusion on this issue.

Sincerely,

Darakus

No problem. :) I was told a short while ago that it should be fixed now. Post back if the problem persists or anything else comes up.

If the problem comes up I tend to use /tell to circumvent it. It\'s not ideal, but I found it to be a better solution than leave a valid question without response.

But my guess is, that it\'s only going to be around for whee long anyway.
