Wont Start
« on: January 11, 2005, 09:18:00 am »
I have installed the game, and when I try to run it, all I get is a black dos box that flashes on the screen, and disappears immediately. Nothing happens after that. Same thing happens when i run update, etc. Absolutely nothing happens.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

And some details from you would be appreciated also. :) Not knowing anything about your system or setup, people will find it extremely difficult to help you.

OK, my system is an athlon64 fx 53, 128mb corsair ram, windows xp pro, nvidia geforce 6800 GT.  However, I don\'t know how my system specs are going to help you tell what this might be, due to the nature of the problem, I seriously doubt it\'s my system configuration. Other people with similar specs seem to be able to run the game fine.

I downloaded the install from their website, and installed it, the install went fine, and the download went fine.

It\'s just when I tried launching the game, all I get is a dos box flash on the screen and disappear.  I opened the game from a dos box and all it does is close immediately, no error messages or anything that might indicate what\'s going on. It just goes back to prompt instantly. I searched the forums and I haven\'t seen anyone with a problem like this one at all, I\'ve seen people with the updater hang problems, and people who can\'t launch the game after creating a character, but this is the first one I\'ve seen which won\'t even fire any program at all.

Edit: update - it appears that something was going on yesterday, or last night that was preventing the game from launching at all, on the server side. I have not rebooted or made any changes at all, and the game now runs. Odd.

Error messages are your friend devs....you should throw something in there if it can\'t find an auth server so we nubs know the game is not borked. It\'ll keep us from un installing it, thinking the game is messed up or something.

thanks for your reply earlier though.
