Where have all the Roleplayers gone?
« on: January 11, 2005, 06:32:41 pm »
Well its pretty annoying!

Just a few seconds after spawning you hear the first

\"OMGZ!! STFU!! HAVE SWORD OF UBER DOOMNES MAKE 350 DAMAGE PER ATTACK 350 ATTACKS PER SECOND!!\"

shout.

But it even gets worse.

Anyone you talk to turns away and the only conversation you will ever get is. \"Do ya want to team up, I needz experienz!!\"

So I ask you where have all the roleplayers gone??
I want to be a flame, to crumble to ash, but never ever burnt.

I want to rise higher, rise up to the heavens, but sink, just sink down deeper and deeper into nothing,

I want to be an angel, a chosen, a devil, but I am just a creature that ever wants what it wont get.

Obviously they were not there when you logged in, that said it is the first time I hear of people talking inside CB while using these type of words as they are normaly reserved for posers :) and those are not attracted to the kind of environment Planeshift provides since they feel the need to hack and slash away.

I roleplay every time I log in, which is every day. Look out for Moogie, Dameon, Kada, Lystera, Draklar, Rumblebelly.... there\'s many more.

Just initiate a roleplaying conversation with someone, and if they respond with their modern-day ramblings, walk away and try someone else. :)

I\'ve been absient for a week because of this same problem. That or people that respond to me OOC all the F-ing time and treat me like a new player when I try and be IC *grublmes*.
If you are EST or closer to GMT you stand a good chance of finding someone that is actually RPing.
If you are PST, I\'m out there a couple hours a nite.
Character: Lhoran Enelone
I\'ll RP with ya\'...Lord knows I need it.

I was afraid as you are at first. Being asked \"lvl?\" under the azure sun before any greeting in this new year time is really annoying.
Since that I forced myself to stay and explore the new wilderness.
I am happy to tell you that I met good people making sense when they talk to you.

The age of Molecular blue are over. We all knew this had to happen. But if you remember those days, we saw these people coming and leaving. And we stayed and finally met some people with good or evil plots. Some friends did not come back since the world revolution. But in the crowd of people that call themselves \'players\' I already encoutered people ready to talk about themselves.

OOC: Role players do have a great advantage in CB. We are able to understand the hack&slashers but they won\'t be able to understand us. When one asks you \"i wanna train STR\", answer him that you were able to share the knowledge of an Ylian near the Ojaveda Gate of Hydlaa. Then see the poor guy run in circle with his longsword+x  while you return to the Tavern for a drink.
Since you can\'t levelup by greetings people, non-RPing people won\'t /greet you. /challenge is the only command they use when they see a new char. Just /greet people yourself. A Greeted RPer will always find some time to greet you in return and say hello.

Well i know that you are Rpgin moogie.

But the problem is that everywhere when you ar online a crowd of 20 people share around you shouting that they need a weapon.
I want to be a flame, to crumble to ash, but never ever burnt.

I want to rise higher, rise up to the heavens, but sink, just sink down deeper and deeper into nothing,

I want to be an angel, a chosen, a devil, but I am just a creature that ever wants what it wont get.

You know it was easier in MB because Crystal Hunters usually were going into dungeons passing the temple and meeting any gathering they just stayed there ;)

Now people go in various places, none the less, we need such place again... but please make it the tavern this time ;)

That\'s it! Something shall be done! From now on I\'ll be spending most of my time in tavern... I got bored with killing monsters long ago anyway :P

I\'ve some tentative plans to share a few stories by the fire at the tavern, so perhaps I may join the gathering for a drink and a tale :)

Where have they gone? Offline.

Every time I roleplayed, I insulted somenobody. :o One event was quite amusing, but it makes little sense to be online at this stage.

Anyone you talk to turns away...

This is probably what I hate the most... Everytime I greet someone (very polite, really) and ask if he/she has some falka because my lamps ran out, they turn away and run 5 loops in the Ojaveda gate and didn\'t say a word to me... How sad :P I tried to recruit some schoolfriends to become roleplaying PS\'ers, but after I found out one of them chose \"drcoolguy cat\" as name, I gave up.

I\'ll try to keep an eye out for any role-players... The problem is that most of them probably live in another time zone (so not anywhere in West-Europe) or simply just enter Yliakum in other times... :(

Good point that you mentioned names. GMs will take note of players using stupid, non-RP names and give them to Cad to be changed. We have a naming policy, but we really need to get it put in Character Creation or the Player\'s Guide or something. Strictly speaking, we don\'t get have a right to enforce the name policy, but we do anyway.

Will bug devs more for this.
