Well I RP when I\'m on, although I can remember an embarising incident when I was trying to ask a question of Moogie and my capslock jamed when I capitalized the \"M\" in her name.

Sadly, I am banished to these forums, as I cannot spend one hundred plus hours downloading the game. *kicks the phone line*
Mayhap I will ask a friend to do it.

Wouldn\'t it be nice if you could just type /ignore noobs and they would all disappear?

Well I know atleast one of them cant play ;)
There needs to be some sort of thing on the account creation page where a person is given a scenario and must give an answer in a role-playing fashion and then that answer is emailed to a GM or something and then they decide if they should be allowed to join. Id really hate this community to end up like runescape.

hahaha and you expected anything less than those people advertising for experience and swords. Moogies right if you want to roleplay you just need to find the right people because theres maybe 1 or 2. I would be in but heh having logging problems so I gave up for awhile on things.

Not every body on RS is like that there are still agreat many RPers there. Vertigo Moj, Blackkingx, Canis Lupis, and myself just to name a few. You just have to look around and find us.  (The \"Sword Sheaths\" thread on the suggestions forum is full of RP bumps and senarios; most recently we had Blackkingx\'s mirror)

The more people RP out in the open, infront of the rest of the players and newcomers, the more you are doing to enforce RP in this community. IMO, people who complain there\'s not enough roleplay and then go hide somewhere to RP with 1 or 2 people alone have no right to complain, since they obviously don\'t care if they influence other people to act the same.

Personally I try to RP mainly in the Plaza, where the /spawn\'ers can hear. I don\'t reply to people who ask me nasty pleveler questions. I do, however, reply to \"where can I kill stuff\" with something like \"if bloodshed is really your thing, perhaps you should try heading down into the sewers. Lots of vermin down there, if you can stomach the smell!\"

Ahh... the time honored position of High Exulted Vermin Disposer.  You can never have to many of those. ;)

In my opinion (IMO for those of you who can\'t understand complete words anymore) I think the whole \'leveling up\' and \'uber sword\' system is at the heart of the problem.  It seems to breed \'lvlers\' and \'n00bs\'.  Also, the sooner we remove PvP from the cities, the better.  I hear that it is complete anarchy in there.

Is there an \'/ignore shout\' command?

Okay, as a new PlaneShifter, I see myself in a few of these posts, and would like to respond a bit.

I\'m an adult IT prof who read about PS on slashdot and decided to try it out because it sounded fun.
I am not an RPG\'er-- haven\'t been since I last played D&D twenty plus years ago with my other 10 year old friends. We built characters, rolled dice, made maps and had loads of fun.

There was one important difference- There were extensive, well written books that told us exactly how things work. We understood what the constraints of the
game were.

The \'online\' aspect of PS adds an entirely new layer of complication. I cannot praise the developers enough for making this project Open Source and spending countless hours making our gameplay experience firstclass, for no monetary reward. But, you must admit, as yet, the \'instructions\' are a bit vague.

Yes, there is the help channel, but it\'s still not like a good DM. Case in point, I have figured out how to train with an NPC and then go practice some to get better. but I\'m clueless what all the pretty blue, red and yellow graph bars mean. Consequently, Gobbles gobble me 50% of the time. Before you go there, yes, I have read the player guide and noob faq\'s.

None the less, I enjoy the PlaneShift world and am enjoying \'re-learning\' how to RPG, and thanks be to a wonderful and patient Guild Leader, I\'ve made some aquaintences that are showing me the ropes.

So, please, if I do things that irritate you as a hard-core RPG\'er, please have some patience and take a moment to draw me into the game more instead of shaking your head and writing me off as a hopeless hack and slasher.

The end of winter break signals the end of free time for many.  I have exams coming up.  I can\'t even check the forums every day, much less go through bug & glitch hell.

Hi Prof Memnaur,

do you still have your D&D books, etc. The only difference here is that you have not about 6 players but a horde of players. The role playing is practically the same for D&D and PS, where one focuses on character background, abilities and weaknesses, personalities, etc and not figures.

Maybe this weekend I get a chance to complete a PS compiling to join the party.

Yes, seems to me a fever has been passing through, causing shouting, talking nonsense, and general ignorance of the world.  I hope that the healers are soon able to find a cure.  *Kwip shakes his head muttering \"poor fools\"*

OOC: You just have to act as one of that world, what would we think of people in rl who go around talking like these people do, we would think them mad or feverish, so RP like it :)

RPers are all around the world, in MB they were concentrated in the temple, now they are not concentrated, as it was said before try /greeting and waving hello, many people replies normally to that, if they are 1337 they usually run away without even noticing you, so you dont even have to move ;)
