Agreed.  I am something of a new-b to this world...(yeah, I am not using my PS name on the board.  My sorry excuses for eyes missed that part.  Sorry.  If you wish to know, it is Dikoke Araren.) and have become rather annoyed at all of the folks in Hydlaa square running about screaming about wanting weapons and etc.  As far as p & p/D&D rping goes...I\'ve done some, even GM\'d a few Shadowrun and WOT games.  I am not that great of a RPer...although I do have a few shining moments.  As it stands, I am usually pretty horrible at RPing a certain race\'s stereotype.  It usually comes out muddled, then I revert to my original favorite style of RPing....  A KENDER!  ;)  Yes, I know, not exactly the best idiom for an Enkidukai....  :p

As far as finding people who actually RP...I have tried to strike up conversations with a few other players, and when I ask their name (c\'mon...If you were actually your character, you probably wouldn\'t be seeing green text floating over their heads....)  They either think I\'m a dummy for asking, or really can\'t figure out what is going on.  (and I usually think they are pretty idiotic for coming into a RP world and not even having the vaguest clue as to what they are supposed to be doing)  At that point, I usually just leave \'em be.

Anyhow.  For those who do RP, there are others of us out there...or at least those of us out there that are trying.  Just need to figure out a little more about myself.

Nyow...

Its not the end of the world until the last Kender stops \"borrowing\".  :D

Well, I know that there are actually some RPers out there. But the problem is that after greeting and talking to 8  1337s I dont have any lust anymore to keep on finding someone to talk to.

And about RPing on Hydlaa Plaza: Its pretty annoying if you talk to someone and every second someone other shouts something inbetween or uses auction channel for shouting. and all this duels happening there are making you sick.

I feel a clean solution would be a designated OOC channel that people who want to role-play can filter. All other channels are expected to be IC and people can get banned for abusing those channels. This worked swell in an old mud of mine.

OOC channel is great for GM announcement and mass advice too :). Now GMs at times shout OOC just because that\'s the best way of getting newbies to use help instead of shout/auction.

Problem is, in loading screen, creation of character never says to RP to talk in RP way, etc.  it\'s not in the rules, at least i didn\'t notice any rules entering the game.  So lot of people who are noobs obviously just don\'t know about these things.

one solution is sentence filter.
when a filter spots that you are using too many cap locked words, words like leet or uber..  words in moder day like dollar or usa or europe..  there should be just a warning..  and if you get up to 10 warnings in 30 minutes, you get silenced for an hour.

Let the GMs do this. I really dislike when a computer program censors people based on filters that can not account for content of communication or context. It just at times is wrong, so let an intelligent person make such decisions. Luckily, there are anti-flooding measures there already.

The problem with the OOC channel is that none of these 1337s would keep with it.

And it would be way to much to ban them all!

Is it really this bad? Maybe I need to hang on Hydlaa plaza more, but I hardly find all this so disruptive. Even when I ran my guided tour starting at Hydlaa Plaza with a whole bunch of newbies, I didn\'t have a single disruptive experience.

How about removing Shout and Auction. Or rather remove Auction (not very RP anyway) and make Shout decrease with distance? Help and other potential OOC channels are the only way to annoy serious masses (or a bunch of overworked advisors).
