heh ... at least a Wish post .. i wondered why you guys didn\'t have any yet until I found this one :?)
Yep ... Wish Refugee here too. I was in Beta1.5 (and of course 2.0 for the time it lasted). Wish was .. well ... just great.
A Skill based system, very nice grafics, extremely organic feel to the world (sounds stupid I know .. but the world felt \"lived in\" ... nothing can compare to running across the map, passing groups of grazing Jabberwocks while trying to keep your voracious pet from attacking them and then finally getting in sight of on of the wonderfully done cities), interesting tradeskills and crafting, fun fighting system, non static mob- and ressource-spawns, a very flat leveling curve (a lvl10 swordfighter was basically 2 times better than a lvl5 one), a player run economy ... and of course live-content (basically automated unique quests.)
An example for the LC? Players got the quest to collect foxgloves to cure some sick NPCs. They failed. So NPCs across the country began to get sick and die. A magician by the name of Vinnian (NPC) said he would give us the cure if we gave him money and brought a woman from another Society (kind of a guild) called Monyka. Eventually, after much searching, Monyka (played by a GM) began traveling to the city where the exchange was to take place. Players escorted her, arguing about whether we should just hand her over, or fight Vinnian, or even try to trick him. Sadly, Vinnian\'s messenger who was to come and do the exchange was killed by a player (NO GM
, so Monyka revealed the location of Vinnian\'s lair (which she had withheld to save the many who would (and did) die in a battle against him ... OOC we had a lot of fun watching the GM struggle to find a solution to Vinnian\'s Messenger having been killed;)
In the end, we attacked Vinnian\'s tower, many died, many great deeds were done and Vinnian was defeated and the cure found. As I learned the next day from the in-game newspaper, one of our \"heroes\" backstabbed Monyka when the fight was over though, which was kind of sad, as she was a nice Character :/
yep ... that was what Wish was about ... it is sad that it isn\'t no more, but perhaps this recalling of the best MMORPG I ever played might give you some ideas on how to improve Planeshift.
I read through the FAQs of most commercial MMOS (release and beta) out there, but none seemed to fully live up to my now high expectations.
Anyway, cya in Planeshift tonight probably ... I just downloaded the client
