logon causes crash!

I click \"Ok\" (star) button to log on on the logon screen and the game immediately crashes.

I have run the updater.

I have tried sound on / off, fullscreen / windowed, various resolutions, all other settings.

I\'m getting about a 400ms ping time on average.

Anything else I can try?

So ... No solution to this problem then ?

Is it because I have an ATI card or something?

I\'ve compiled CS and all the demos for that seem to work OK.

i know this problem to... had it several times yet.

the only way to remove it (the only way i\'ve found so far) is uninstalling ps completely, and installing it anew.

(this also removes the problems, that some of cams get strange behavior... -> for example: third person follow cam becomes \"third person look behind you-cam\", first person cam becomes \"watch the back of your head closely-cam\" etc.)


the new installation normally works for some hours/days...

then the server goes linkdead / the client crashes / i quit the game myself... and theres no way of logging on again.

changing setup, rebooting the machine etc. wont work. only option ist to reinstall everything anew.

did this several times already...

but this time... the update server is down
cant get back online.

Unfortunately I\'d thought of that. I reinstalled from a md5 verified copy, first uninstalling and removing the planeshift folder.

Doesn\'t work for me.

I tried the same exe on a different machine and it worked fine (unfortunately the other machine is a non 3d accellarated celeron laptop so I got 0.5 frames per second and stuttery sound).

I guess I\'m doomed never to be able to play
