Updater is Not Working!
« on: January 15, 2005, 03:13:45 am »
I downloaded Crystal Blue, and I need a different version.
So, I try to use the updater.

The updater starts, I click \"update\", it downloads some registry or something, it trys to update itself, and once the bar reaches 100% a dos prompt titled \"Command\" appears and the updater stops working. All the other buttons on the updater work though, except  the exit button brings up a blue screen of death...

Here\'s what it says:
Welcome to the PlaneShift updater version 1.0.2.1!
Click update to start
(I click update)
Downloading registry...
(Progress reaches 100%)
Loaded registry
Your updater version is older than the server\'s..
Downloading registry...
(reaches 100%)
Loaded registry
Updating updater to version 1.0.2.2
(reaches 100%)

Besides the parenthesis lines that is letter by letter what it says, same number of periods and everything.

The dos prompt is titled: C:\\WINDOWS\\COMMAND.COM
And nothing appears in it except a flashing underscore.

Can\'t give you info on the BSOD as that would lock up my computer... :D

So, any help?

I really wouldn\'t know... Just in case you didn\'t knew, here are the minum requirements:

    * Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP, Mac OS X 10.2.6, Linux, FreeBSD or Solaris
    * GeForce 2 or higher 3D graphics card
    * 1 Ghz CPU
    * 512 MB RAM
    * 1 GB free disk space
    * 56k modem Internet connection

Try to check them out... maybe you find the problem here.

If you really don\'t know, go to start -> run -> enter \"dxdiag\".

Greetings,

I think this is a known issue among the Win32 users. It has something to do with updater trying to update some dll files that are already used by the updater.

There is a post stickied on the CrystalBlue Bug forum that may help you. More exactly in here: http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=12936&boardid=33
