How do you pronounce Ynnwn???
« on: July 21, 2002, 07:20:54 pm »
I\'ve been wondering about it for quite some time now, asked some other devs, but they didn\'t seem to know either.

So how do YOU think Ynnwn would or should be pronounced? I\'m sure the Ynnwn know how to say it in their own language, but in common speech? Let\'s find out how the boardscrollers think about it. Reply now and maybe receive eternal fame!  :D

that sounds good to me, or another possibility could be to pronounce the \"w\" as a \"v\" like in Poland/Chez/...i dont know

so

Ynnwn  = In-vn
                In-vin

just a thought

Who did you ask? Talad had me put all the names through a pronouncer thing and it came back as inn-win... Thought you knew that one just like Yliakum is pronounce ill-eye-uh-come.

Yliakum for me has always been \"ee-lee-AH-kem\"

Yliakum has always been for me ee-lee-ah-koum. and Ynnwn errr, dunno about that one. I never really thought about it. But the fact that it has nnwn, makes it very easy to think of much different names for them.

I remember this mute Y thing and in-noon from the time of Mauro Zanetti, who had the first idea of the races and the world, quite a few years ago. He used to pronounce those names that way, so I think this is the way those names were originally intended to be pronounced by the author.

A while back Luca had me take all the names and place them in some pronounciation thing. He said how they came out there would be the way we shpould stick to. That was several months though and not as far back as the race creator himself. Maybe Luca just forgot about how the guy first pronounced them.
