Point about lag on most decent games the ping is kept low around 200 however on plainshift the ping sometimes (most of the time) gets up to 540! That is Waaaay to high if you don\'t fix it anyone still on dial up will be lost and anyone withotu 8meg broadband will have a very boring time!

Update!
I have pinged and with small packets inside dos the ping speed increases  from 540 to on average 355 whereas with http://network-tools.com there ping of the server 203.81.47.91 is 272.2 just wish the client made it that!

Lag

I noticed the same problem.  I have a GeForceFX 5800 Ultra with 256 mb. I use the latest drivers, have one GB of Ram, and a 2.2 GHZ Processor.  Our internet is high speed broadband.  The game used to run fine, then it suddenly started getting laggy really bad - even in places where there wern\'t any people.  If anyone knows the reason let me know!

Well the updater updated a large amount of updates to the game.    So I tried it out.   I still get the same type of lag.

There might be  a client communication error, perhaps it recieves to much data that it has to send out as well.

as for the lag problem, I sometimes experience it too running on a Nvidia Gforce 6800gt and athlon 2.3 GHZ still have to upgrade to 1024 running 512 memory at the moment. But as i found out it\'s not because of either of them it has to do with Virtual memory running out in my case, A defrag solves the lag problem for a few hours. And don\'t start running the moment you\'re in the game give it a second or 5 to completely load. that seems to help too. well in my case that is.

Judging by the system specs they gave Induane and Gilibran should not be getting lag that\'s anything to do with their system!

Must be something to do with the server, perhaps number of players/connection speed etc.

It doesn\'t sound like the player can do anything about it.

I figured I would post what happened on my system.

It turns out it was a hardware failure.   The fan on my video card stopped spinning and it was over heating.   As soon as I replaced the fan, the game started to run fine again.
