Updating mac OSX version

I have just strated playing this game, and after some hours trying to make it work, and succeeded, I now get the message that I am not running the correct version of Planeshift to play the game. I have tried updating, but still get the same message. I hace read that a lot of Mac users have the same problem, and I suspect that they are also stuck at the moment. What can I do to fix this?

I am having the exact same trouble.  However, without the Updater working, how can one access the game?

i have the same problem ,the mac updater is not working except for the show server Ping ,the server version have changed one hour ago so lets wait. This game rox anyway, good job guys.

How do you know that the updater is not working?  I ran it several times this morning and it appeared to function as it always has.  Maybe it never has functioned properly and I just don\'t know it!

Anyway, I cannot login as well.  First time this has happened to me.

Well, this morning (8am Los Angeles time) the server was failing.

However, I\'m using this technique to update.  I figured it\'s best to have recent updates, so I keep two planeshift folders.  I happen to have the HD space.

Anyway, after you\'ve run the updater from the terminal, it will not run again from either the terminal or clicking.  Thus, I keep a sort of base directory where I keep the the raw downloaded image and another sort of working directory.  When I want to update, I move the updater from the base directory to the current planeshift folder, which I keep in /Applications/Planeshift\\ 3D.  Open the terminal, and type

cd /Applications/Planeshift\\ 3D/    (or wherever you have it.)

./updater.app/Contents/MacOS/updater

and the updater will launch correctly.  It will tell you that you are updating for the first time, but that\'s okay because presumably you are updating to the current version.

To run the game, \"launch Planeshift\" has never worked for me.  So from the terminal I type

./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient

and it launches.  Then I get the buttons on the top of the screen, but none of the channel buttons on the bottom of the communications window, so I get stuck in various channels.

The point is I get on the game and I can wile away the time I should be doing my research.  Thus,  I recommend we all stop playing!

:O As proclaimes Joe in the Great Book of Joe, patience is the key to all. The Holy Adminstrators will save all Mactonians. And if not, we will do as Joe\'s son, Bob, did when his updater did not work! Fool around with the package contents... :O

i had the same problem also.

I opened the updater through the terminal and it told me it couldn\'t open the .zip file it downloaded. why not just put it under a different compression for macs, or maybe why not just download the zipped file straight from the server, unzipped already?

Well, while I\'m glad we have a way to update, but I\'m not overly happy about fiddling around in Terminal.  I mean, knowing me and my tech-jargon illiteracy, I\'ll probably end up trashing everything....  I think I might wait for some Holy Guidance instead ^^

Client won\'t work until I put a working version in the updater.  People with broken updaters will probably need a little help or magic to get things working again..  I really am working on it between school assignments

could someone plz tell me why the download times out after it gets to around 50mb is this to do with the server?

sounds like a bloody great game. But i cant truly tell if i cant even get it downloaded.

oh yea im using a mac os x if that helps..

Spaz Munt, please don\'t post a problem multiple times, I\'ve seen this posting of yours at least 3 times already. This will only add to the chaos in the forums and not make the problem go away faster.

strange question anyway, i know that something is not working when it\'s not doing what it \'s done for.And yeah updater have never really works like it should be,but daniel is working on it(thanks to you ) so lets just wait and be patient.

I fianally got it downloaded!

but now i try to run the client and it unexpectedly quits, then i try the updater and it just says downloading registry... and never does anything.

does it take incredibly long to download the registry or is it not working..
