Magic Glyphs
« on: January 24, 2005, 02:05:15 am »
OK, i\'ve searched through the players guide and the forums.
(note to other newbies, there is a search feature on these boards, useing it will keep you in Moogie\'s good graces :)  )
I am still confused about the glyphs. Does one glyph = one spell or does one glyph = access to that \"Way\" and therefore several spells?
Several spells, of course, when they are all implimented.

on that note, is there a list anywhere of what has been implimented? I mean is there one spell per way or what have you?

in the spirit encouraged often on these boards I am looking to explore the world, I am just wanting to make an informed purchase when I pay out 2 hours worth of rat killing for a glyph.

thank you.

Greetings :)

From what I know, a glyph (with or without other glyphs in a combination) will allow you to \"discover\" a spell, which you then learn and note in your spellbook. That spell can then be used infinitely, even if you have no glyphs at all. However, the glyph(s) you used will persist in your inventory, leading me to believe they can all be re-used to discover more spells.

This may be incorrect, but for now, that\'s how it works.

To my knowledge, you also have to have the glyph in your inventory to cast the spell once you learnt it. Otherwise, if you try to cast that spell you will get an appropriate error message in your char window.

Wrong.
Fear is their most important weapon.

You can compare a glyph as a word in a sentence.
For basic and non powerful spells, you only need one glyph.

Every glyph needs to be \"purified\" before usage, which will create a bond between you and the glyph, making it unpurified if you drop it or trade it.
Purifing will take MUCH longer time in the future (I think about 1-2 hours) because they\'re so powerful.

To get access to more powerful spells you need to combine glyphs in the right order (4 slots). In the near future, if you combine 3 glyphs correctly (like Light, Blue, Brown) and then by misstake add a Dark (which don\'t like Light :)) it will backfire and stuff like that (This is taken of own speculations, but I know it will backfire in the future :P)
