Linux updater problems..
« on: January 29, 2005, 05:09:35 am »
I have been building PS CVS for awhile, and within the past few days, updater has stopped working.

I get the following error:
Quote
meff@ghreen:/opt/games/planeshift-cvs/planeshift$ ./updater -auto
Critical files () not found (Server only)
NOTIFY: psUpdaterEngine initialized.
Downloading registry...
Couldn\'t write to file! (/this/updatertemp/repos.zip)
Couldn\'t download updater registry from server!

I have checked the updatertemp dir permissions, and I am sure I can write to it..

Kinda stumped, though I am probably overlooking something simple :)

Thanks.

How about making sure updatertemp doesn\'t exist.. it might be getting in the way.
I like taking things literally, going overboard is fun! Now... why do I keep getting odd looks?

Same error here on a fresh build today meff.

/updatertemp is writeable and I can pull the repository.zip file  manually but when I run updater  I get the same error:

          Downloading registry...
          Couldn\'t write to file! (/this/updatertemp/repos.zip)
Couldn\'t download updater registry from server!

Ideas anyone?

Sorry, don\'t have any ideas, but I do have the problem myself. Similarily fresh build from today (same problem yesterday). CVS of CS and cel from one days ago. I am currently updating the two to see if that\'s the problem. Otherthan that, I have the complete output here: http://paste.phpfi.com/48461 It\'s a bit long, so I don\'t want to spam the forum with it.

[EDIT] Just updated to current CVS of CS and cel, as well as PS. The problem still persists.

I don\'t know if it applies, but I made sure that the person running the updater has full permission to create/delete directories from the entire planeshift directory (user owns the entire planeshift directory)

Just tried to run psclient.. The following errors look related to the updater problem:

Quote
ParseFile:
  Could not find file: /this/data/gui/gmaddeditaction.xml

LoadWidget:
Error parsing xml in file: /this/data/gui/gmaddeditaction.xml
Following widgets failed to load:
GM Action Location Edit

Argh.

Looks like latest CVS fixed the updater, but now the server is rejecting me saying I don\'t have the right version..

Always something.. eh.. :)

Same for me.. first the updater didn\'t work and now the version seems to be incorrect... :(

Waiting on new CVS-Version or Server update... :)
