I really have no idea what to do here...
« on: January 29, 2005, 10:21:06 pm »
I just downloaded the game and installed, and I clicked on it the start menu. It did its little loading thing at the beginning, and then, when it was finished, I think it was a menu that pops up, but here\'s by problem: All the text that\'s suppsoed to be there just appears as lines (they\'re slightly similiar to a barcode on store-bought items). I tried gonig to the Updater, but all the text there appeared as lines as well (including the text that I type). I went to the setup but, unfortunately, I couldn\'t understand what it was saying, for the same reason. I tried restarting m computer, clicking random icons in the menu, I uninstalled the program, and then installed it again, but nothing seems to work. I really want to play PlaneShift, but I don\'t even know how to create my character. Can somebody help?

Try going under your start menu to the \"Planeshift Set-up\" program. This will let you select screen resolution, sound set up and the like. You might be able to change the res and be able to see stuff.

What OS, processor and Video card are you useing?
On that note, make sure your video driver is up-to-date

I\'m going to try a screenshot. I apologize if this doesn\'t work properly.

See if you can update with -> updater -auto

That should get you past the problems with the graphical updater and make sure your system has all the files you need to play.

Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card installed, and do you have a card that supports OpenGL?

you should be able to pull the driver version on your computer up from several differnt places. If your driver came with some extra software - my invida card has extra options that allow me to do all kinds of fancy things with my display - somewhere in there it should tell you the driver version.
If you can\'t find that, right click on \"My computer\" and select \"Properties\" Then go into the device manager and look at your video card.  A tab at the top will list the driver and will tell you the version.

Then go to the website for your vido card and see if you\'ve got the latest version. If you\'ve had the card for a while and have never updated skip all the looking for the version stuff and just down load the newest one.
