« on: February 01, 2005, 11:58:12 am »
Pretty straight forward post here. Has anyone seen it, played it, read a review about it...etc.
I don\'t like wasting time DLing something I\'m just going to regret having logged into.

http://www.kalonline.com/

Yup\' pretty straight forward.

Thumbs down... Hack-n-Slash...

At least from what I\'ve heard, I never actually played it myself.

this is so much better anyway.

The evils of past repeat themselves in many shapes and forms

Thanx for pointing me towards it! I think it\'s gonna be fun top play - but unfortunately it doesn\'t work under cedega, so I\'d have to reboot :(

my uptime! my uptime! a kingdom for uptime!

alright tried it, so here\'s a review.

firs thing you see in Kal are hoards of old (lo)users trying to earn game money by selling you game stuff for more than you\'d find it in the game for. I guess that compares evenly with the crowd of bored ilders on hydlaa plaza *g* - still think of ps where 30 out of 60 chars currently online keep offering map of the sewer to you all the time.

there are lots more folk in Kal, ratio of players to npc is well above 100. consider that you have 3 body types to choose from multiplied by 3 hair styles and 3 faces, that\'s more than the character choice you get in ps now, but really just as lame - whereever you go there are innumerable characters who look like you carry same weapon as you and.... one day when ps has all the races properly implemented, ps would rock in this part.

so far I\'ve seen only rather basic quests, like \"bring me this item\", and only weapon/magic skill progression, i.e. kill small monsters, get pp, train, kill larger monsters, get pp, train, etc. The Kal world is larger than Yliakim, much larger in fact, but a lot more repetitive and plain. a lot of npc don\'t interact at all (presumably until you get to a certain level doing certain quest where you need that npc).

to cut it short:
Kal - ready and playable and feels 5 years too old
Ps - not ready or playable and feels 2 years too old

I hope you enjoyed my review! :)

Good review, except Kal has an expected 3 more Classes to come... and with that hopefully more Hairstyles/faces

Not to mention it is still in beta, so more weapons/quests/vendors/armor will come as well.

And they have a larger Dev team, so it will be done faster...  But it is 3rd person, click to move. like Diablo.. all in all. its not to bad.. i even loved it for a while
